I used to have a retired master chief come into my store about once a month for supplies when they were training up the riverine patrol boat squadrons on Fort Knox's Salt River. I had guessed that he might be a retired SEAL, but didn't receive confirmation for almost a year, when one of my idiotic (and full of it) coworkers saw his Navy hat and tried to tell him that he was a former SEAL and that he'd taken part in the invasion of Panama and Desert Storm. The old master chief looked at him with a glare that scared me and told him that he was part of the SEAL Team that went into Panama and he knows the name and face of every SEAL who took part in that op. My coworker (I think his name was Jim) started babbling and backpeddling, and the master chief told him that if he ever heard Jim telling a lie like that again, he'd regret it.

You ever notice the last ones to brag about being SEALs are real SEALs...That's true about a lot of things in life...especially since the onset of the internet. You need to keep your skepticism index turned up high.
