SAN DIEGO San Diego County investigators trying to determine a motive behind a New Year's Day murder-suicide involving two Navy pilots and two other people are looking at whether jealousy may have played a role.
Sheriff's Capt. Duncan Fraser said Thursday investigators are looking at all aspects, including whether there was a relationship between one of the pilot's sisters who was also killed and the Navy pilot who committed suicide.
John Robert Reeves, 25, shot himself in the head, and the three others with him were murdered, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said, citing autopsy results. Fellow Navy pilot David Reis, also 25, was killed by a gunshot wound to the torso, and his 24-year-old sister, Karen, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and chest, officials said. Matthew Saturley, 31, of suburban Chula Vista, was shot multiple times.

brittle things snap.

Hearkens back to 1993 when Lt. Alton Grizzard [former starting quarterback at Navy] was murdered when trying to intervene in an argument between another fellow male officer and his [once] female officer girlfriend.
The female was also murdered, then the shooter turned thee gun on himself ...
Such a waste of youth, talent and promising futures.
Hmmmm...Shooter on the landing? Balcony? stairway...No where to go so bullet to the head?
2 in the bedroom? Someone did not like what was going on in the bedroom?
I'm confident they know what happened and motive, but they just aint sayin.
The just ain't saying who the shooter was or what the motive was at this time.
My bet, is they know exactly who had the motive at this point and who had all the gunshot residue on their hand, and who was the last to die.
Neither one of those jg's had anything to do with Top Gun, which relocated to Fallon back in 1996. Journalists are schmucks.
It’s already been established that Reeves was the shooter.
The shooter was Reeves.
Whoop...Yeah they revealed was Reeves, but motive?
They said the shooter was Reeves. They said Reeves was “confused about a supposed relationship with a roommate’s sister”.
They said the Chula Vista guy was shoot far more than any other victim.
Reis’s brother came in after his sister and the Chula Vista guy were shot. He died in the doorway.
Reeves, the shooter, died of a self inflicted head wound on the landing.
My guess: he killed the Reis sister and Chula Vista guy with jealously over their relationship. Reis’ brother came in the doorway, was killed and died there.

With no surviving witnesses it's going to take a little more time for the cops to conclude exactly why this happened. They won't release speculation. The most likely scenario is the one that Bunny Slippers posted in the previous thread. A crime of passion fueled by jealousy and alcohol.
A toughy. Tragic. Prayers for all of the families.
Very unusual event. Officers generally don’t shoot each other, and nothing like this ever happens at Coronado.
What’s going on in the world?
Its already been established that Reeves was the shooter.
Upon closer review of this particular article, they didn't say Reeves was the shooter at this point and continue to avoid saying that. They only admit Reeves shot himself. But it clearly appears to be the case, Reeves was the shooter...But ya never know until all the evidence is in.

Sheriff's Capt. Duncan Fraser declined to say if Reeves was the shooter, explaining that "we don't have forensic evidence yet to say that definitively."
I suspect you need to read multiple news articles nationwide to get the better story. It appears to be straight forward story. Sad and tragic however.
