Over reaction, is over reaction, suspend the man for a couple of days. No one in their right mind should work for a company that is that harsh.
No way I’d ever work again for these sleeze balls.
Sticking a gun in someones face, threatening to blow their brains out, can and does cause significant mental/stress issues.
Seems the company was only concerned with their profits than employee safety, since they did not provide any degree of safety for their employees, who are clearly subject to armed robbery and possibly murder.
Sue them into next year!
I work for an outfit...that is just as "harsh". But when you know the rules, policies...you follow them or you suffer the consequences. You have basic "rights"....but they employ you at their pleasure.
My company has a no smoking rule at work...In fact the whole facility has the same rule. If you are on their property and smoking in your vehicle and caught doing so...you are subject to being fired. Everyone knows this....But I've seen folks fired for it.
I don't agree with it. But they can dictate what they want..on their property and on their "time".
BTW, I work 3 days a week in a very large hospital.....
And...fwiw- I enjoy a premium cigar about once a fortnight...but not at work.
