What other civilian police force does “training” exercises in the public arena? None! Their training (FBI, state police departments, county departments, or city departments) all conduct training at training facilities. What the hell is going on with this?

‘With their blue and white SUVs circled around the Main Street office, at least one official was posted on the door with a semiautomatic rifle, randomly checking identifications.’
By what authority is he asking for id? I think Id tell him its none of your business and continue w/ my day.

It really reminds me of the ATFs MO. A huffing/puffing chest beater agency. When they need to show the world they’re effective people wind up dead. I think the TSA is headed down the ATF path.

No No...I’m sure we are over reacting. Obama promised not to use his newly granted power to hold American Citizens. It couldn’t happen in the United States....Just because the president can throw you in jail forever, shut down the Internet on a whim move along now Citizen before you are reported!

They are just practicing. Now that obama has his law, look for a "Riechstagg Fire" incident. It is my opinion that he will have his people either blow up, set fire to, or place explovises at an abortion clinic to be "discovered". Then things will get interesting.
You will notice while all the "occupy" shit was going on DHS was quite as a church mouse.
There is a message in everything these people do and say. Each thing they do, every word they utter has an ulterior purpose. And they have this forum riddled with judas goats as obama's law evidenced.

Do a Google of operation shield, interesting stuff.
The one in Atlanta started in 2007 with the “purpose” of joining Government and private business....for security of course.

By what authority is he asking for id? I think Id tell him its none of your business and continue w/ my day.: Good point. From the story in the MSM (which may well have left some things out), this was just a consensual encounter, and the folks accosted would be perfectly OK to do as you suggest.
OTOH, it was a federal building and the Feds could probably assert the right to demand ID before allowing entry. So, it would be a case of "you don't have to show me your ID, but if you don't you can't go inside".

I wonder what kind of terroristic threat they would anticipate to occur at a Social Security office? Oh... nevermind.
