How do they expect minorities and the poor to comply with this? I think Eric Holder should look into this.

California, Illinois, whatever...this is what the pols do, engage in petty things. It shows that they are "doing something", and it distracts from the fact they can't deal with real problems, like collapsing budgets.

Now one of the idiots on my city council has suggested we need to ban plastic grocery bags. Nonsense like that to distract from their money-wasting incompetence.

Is there a waiting period? How about a background check?

Federal Caustic Poison Act in concentrations that require the warning "causes severe burns" on the packaging. Targeted substances include hydrochloric and sulfuric acids.

Wait... Caustic? or Acidic? Because I grew up being taught that bases were caustic.

Bleach apparently escaped, and it’s not the nicest thing to get on your face or in your eyes either.

And what the heck is this supposed to do. OK police can prove one of these acid or alkali attackers actually bought some lye or whatever. Now what?

This is a nanny state joke to rival California and its carseats for eight year old children.

ID now needed for drain cleaner...

Q: What ingredients are used to make meth?

A. Over-the-counter cold and asthma medications containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, red phosphorous, hydrochloric acid, drain cleaner, battery acid, lye, lantern fuel, and antifreeze are among the ingredients most commonly used. Hazards of Meth Ingredients Manufacturing of Methamphetamine

I was buying what was no more than a simple Vicks cold & flu tablet remedy, Nature Fusion; and had to give my age!!! Note many medicines on the shelf are now held behind the counter..all because of the manufacture of Meth etc..

Another designer drug on the rise is "bath salts".

The politicians created the leach culture to buy votes, and then they incrementally impose more and more laws on the productive to slake their own thirst for power.

This is how civilizations die...

Well, that is completely reasonable of course, so long as we don't sell drain cleaner in polling places on the first Tuesday in November.

Because, you see, IL is in such great shape that the government can spend time concentrating on this.

On our way to a completely regulated society.

Every time I have to sign for a box of pseudoephedrine, I always say to the pharmacist, “You know, it’s much easier to make meth out of Vick’s inhalers, and you don’t even have to cook it.” They always nod in agreement. But Vick’s inhalers do not require an ID check and signature to purchase.

-- Nitric acid or any product with a free or chemically unneutralized version in a concentration of 5 percent or more.

Anyone getting there hands on nitric acid is not going to waste it by pouring it on someone. They are going to mix it with glycerine or toluene instead to make powerful explosives and blow up their entire house.

I agree with the posters above who say this is nothing but a way to curb clandestine drug manufacture. I guess now the only question that remains is how many laws and restrictions are required or desired in a supposedly free society that would virtually stop such clandestine drug manufacture. At what point of relinquishing our freedoms are we free of illegal drug use but still a free people? Oh, and before I forget, lights out after the random searches. See you all at roll call.

The institutionalization of society marches on.

We are just inmates and it appears, guilty until proven innocent, and even then, we criminals must be strictly controlled.

Brave new world...

"Show me your papers or I'll taze you... ...hmmm... seems you have an overdue library book, we will remove your children from your home...."

I just has this horrible vision of walking into WalMart and instead of miles of re-arranged aisles of Asian crap, it looks like one of those product fairs with manned and/or womaned boothes that have "slashed" signs describeing a product and a recipe type box full of cards you take to the checkout.

You "deal" the cards out at the register and another form of invented job market retrieves your stuff.

I don't know how it gets to your car ... I awoke to type this.

(This fantasy brought to you by the real-life adventure to get a box of "BRONKAID" pills to help battle my "chronic bronchitis .. the kind that's sweeping the nation. A card in the "cold and flu" section sent me to the parmacy (wait in line) for it. I asked "why?" and was told "so people can't make drugs out of it"

Seriously folks, I asked the lady to repeat that and looked hard at her, and asked her to think of the words she just used and she said, "What?" .. )

OK, so just about every house in the country has a bottle of this stuff. What’s the point?

How about a 30-day waiting period before you can unplug your drain? Or concealed Drano carry permits?

This has to stop.

The liberals continue on their quest to make the world completely safe. We want constant, dependable climate, and no danger. Everyone please stand still while we tweak a few things, and then it will be perfect. We will sacrifice all liberty, all originality, all creativity, all independence for the sake of safety and security. We must be protected from ourselves. As Monk would say, “You’ll thank me later.”
