Disney Cruise Line spokesman Rebecca Peddie says it will allow the company to prepare its 2013 itinerary.
Port business development manager Chris Chase tells the Torrance Daily Breeze that it's a sign of weakening demand for cruises to Mexico, where there has been a surge of violence.

70% of the stops Gopher, Julie, Issac, Doc, and Capt. Stubing visited, along with Zsa Zsa, Charo et al, are no longer visited by any of the cruise lines.
I just got an email of cruise deals from Princess Cruises. One of them was a 14 day Panama cruise from Florida to LA. After stopping in Costa Rica it sails straight to LA without stopping anywhere in Mexico. Never heard of that before.
No doubt!
Great. Is there a place in the world that isn’t reaping the whirlwind?
I can see all the Mexicans I want just by walking down the street of my small town. Why pay to see them? Besides, we’re all already paying for them to vacation in America while robbing us blind.

lol...
This impacts our local economy, here in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. Now, Alaska will be the only trip available, I guess. For some reason, I don’t think they do cruises to Hawaii. Maybe now is a good time to start.
Too bad for the cruise lines, and those that supply these bloated barges...
All that crap pales in comparison to what tens of millions of illegal Mexicans are doing to our social services, choking off our hospitals, healthcare, schools, jails, welfare, you name it.
I wouldn't spend a dime in a country who's people routinely defecate on our rules, laws and borders.
DCL will be sailing to Hawaii twice next year, April and October. I think both sailings have proved very popular, so I think they may do it more often. Coincidentally, their Hawaii cruises all stop in Ensenada, MX since the Disney ships are all Bahama flagged.
“What did the US economy do to Mexico, just curious.”
Hurt the tourist economy, but not the drug economy, which is largely supported by U.S. Government wealth transfer payments.
I got yet another live example of this today. (It’s Welfare Check Day in the Inner-Cities tonite)
For those pondering an Endenada trip...dont. Just don’t. Once a great place. Long ago.
You are right. There are cruises for people in every kind of income class. Cruises are good value for your money....this is why the cruise business is much larger than 30 years ago. Basic cost of the cruise is reasonable. The bills start adding up when you get off the ship
And if you are a rich old fart.... You can easily book a cruise that will cost you $20,000 for you and wife for 10 days. Lots of different level accomadations for the consumer
Dittos...... I want nothing to do with that place
That kind of says it all..... roughly half your cruise distance and not one stop in a Mexican west coast port. People like to get off and stretch their legs but Mexico is too dangerous
I covered the SCORE Baja 500/1000/San Felipe races back in the late 90s/2000. Getting 20 miles south of Ensanada to Cabo reveals a stunningly beautiful country. But no more do than NorCal, the Grand Tetons, the Blue Mountains or the Adirondacks.
I certainly understand people’s desire to travel out of country, but many of them never traveled IN the country to the above or a thousand other places as beautiful.
Most are among the best people you’d ever want to meet and I have a number of friends there from my time at the races. But since South Central LA is now safer than Baja, that pretty much tells people all they need to know.
Dear Disney Company;, Please stop sailing to ANY third world country that harbors muderers, rapists and kidnappers.
I suggest you buy a BIGGER island somewhere thats somewhat remote and build your own Mysterious Island.
Create your own maritime security force and if needed hide some SAMs in a castle or two.
‘Not anymore.’
We were in Ixtapa about 1979, by air, not ship. Thru a Disney Travel Club or some such.
Barely anything there then . . . warm ocean and nice beach.
