An adviser to Michele Bachmann says the Minnesota congresswoman is ending her bid to win the Republican presidential nomination after coming in last in the Iowa caucuses.
Bachmann finished sixth out of six candidates in the first of many contests to pick a Republican presidential candidate.
She canceled appearances planned for Wednesday in South Carolina and scheduled a news conference in Des Moines, Iowa, instead.
The adviser requested anonymity to speak before Bachmann makes the announcement.
Like Newt? Or do his non-elected activities after being in the House qualify him more?
I agree. And she can be proud that she ran a serious campaign and was a contender, just as much as Santorum was. It could have gone a lot of different ways. But she was never someone who couldn’t get out of the front gate, like Huntsman and whatzhisname.
DOH! Mittens just lost his greatest protector!
Thankyou Michele Bachmann....you’ve stood up for us and we appreciate you....please keep talking and touring if you can....we still need your voice....
We shall see, but this is really the only real course of action she has, to drop out and begin to coalese the field.
I completely agree except the part about supporting Perry. I do think Michele is one classy as well smart woman. She will prove to be an asset to who ever picks her for a position in their administration should a Conservative win the race.
Because of “O”-the bar is now so low, it’s a joke
Good. If she’d dropped out a little earlier, then Mittens wouldn’t have edged out Santorum.
Too bad Rick Perry came back in. Another spoiler. And he just released some more Santorum smears, too, at the critical moment.
She will not be chosen as a VP candidate.
I do, however, want her to hold onto her House seat. She needs to focus on that. She’s only been a rep for 5 years, and she needs to get a House leadership role and then contend for Minnesota senator or governor.
With that experience under her belt, she’d be a formidable presidential candidate. She has some of the iron lady hiding in her, but inexperience prevented her being able to show it. Instead she had to keep repeating it, insisting on it.
Just as well. We need her strong conservative voice in congress.
Just as well. We need her strong conservative voice in congress.
Sorry to see her go. She’s a solid conservative fighter. But at least we’ll still have her in the House.
Regardless of who she officially endorses, the majority of her supporters will go to Santorum with the remaining to Newt or Perry.
This will hurt Mittens in SC and FL since the conservative vote will be more united behind fewer candidates.
There goes the last hope for a candidate who could be trusted to really pursue a true conservative agenda.
The 2012 presidential election will now be just another where we get a choice to vote AGAINST the worse candidate instead of FOR a candidate we believe in.
Money talks, well you know the rest. It became apparent to Bachman that her chances of raising any money after yesterday have disappeared. Anybody that thinks Perry has a chance, needs to get off the mind altering drugs and take a drink of reality. Perry is young enough to run in the future, but not after he loses several primaries. He needs to limit the battle damage to himself. He’ll be out in days. Huntsman? Who’s that?
Once Palin gives you the kiss of death, you're done for.
I must admit...she did seem to be his attack dog.
But in all reality, Santorum has no chance. He is just another Huckabee.
