States: California's in trouble. Businesses are leaving along with intellectual and investment capital and skilled workers. But rather than face up to serious problems, legislators pass silly laws. One would think that given the serious nature of the state's problems, the legislature would focus on solutions at the exclusion of all else. Instead, lawmakers — what would we ever do without them? — found the time in 2011 to trespass even deeper into Californians' personal lives. Topping off Sacramento's monument to foolishness is a law requiring children younger than 8, except for those taller than 4 feet 9 inches,

Good for you for being an optimist! (and I hope you’re right).

Brown IS cutting a few things — but raising taxes even HIGHER. Not like those “rich” who are targeted for new taxes can’t take their money to another state like Nevada or any other without a state tax (and is exactly what they’ve done and are doing).

He’s proposed raising the sales tax again, but only ‘temporarily’ — yeah, sure.

We have a massive welfare population here - they (as Pat Buchanan says) will vote themselves government entitlements in perpetuity, they’ll vote for whoever promises to continue their government-funded gravy train. They have little to no understanding that SOMEONE has to FUND their lavish benefits.

As Margaret Thatcher said, at some point, Socialists run out of other people’s money!!
