State police have issued Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray a ticket for speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and a lane violation in connection with a pre-dawn highway crash last year.
An aide confirmed the citations Tuesday, and said police said Murray may have briefly fallen asleep at the wheel.
Murray told reporters at the time that he was driving around the speed limit and wearing his seatbelt. Murray said he asked for a field sobriety test and the test showed a zero blood-alcohol reading.
The Nov. 2 accident on Interstate 190 in Sterling happened at about 5:30 a.m.
Murray said he left his Worcester home to survey snowstorm damage when his car hit a patch of black ice and overturned.
Murray has asked police to release data from the so-called ``black box'' in the state-owned vehicle.
Howie list ping. Murray might run for gov in '14, as Deval Patrick says this is his last term.
"Crash" Murray said he was "surveying storm damage"--at 5:30 am, well before sunrise? --and was on his way to get a Herald and a coffee. Did they turn over records right away? Of course not, this is Mass.!
Howie strongly suspects this was a half way point meeting between Murray and an indicted pol.
Fixed...
Also, the early season snowstorm occurred Oct 29, so by the morning of Nov 2, the snow was pretty much melted away. So his excuse that he was “surveying snowstorm damage” is pretty lame. There is much more to this but we’ll never know.
Howie will have a field day with this one.
No where in the article does the MSM mention the party affiliation of the Lt. Governor. Therefore, he must be a Democrat.
