In the U.S.A. the Constitution mentions a "generic" God..
[Were the kings that He appointed over ancient Israel also "mobsters"? ]
Isreal's government was a renegade government..
they demanded(of Moses) that "GOD" setup a government like the gentiles.. (with a King).
There is no evidence that God had that in mind.. for them..
What God would have setup for them, up no one knows..
So Isreals government was a renegade government..
Compared to what Man has setup.. it was pretty good..
Isreal shot themselves in the foot.. or some other appendage..
Actually, there is no mention of God at all in the US Constitution. Compare that to the more socialistic constitutions of certain European countries, which actually do mention God; the US constitution evades hypocrisy by comparison to them.

Actually, they demanded it of Samuel, not Moses. But God did predict in Moses' day that Israel would one day desire a human king and gave instructions for setting up such a system in Deuteronomy 17:14-15the king had to be chosen by God. The rule of David was not "renegade", which implies total rebellion against God.
