Some points well taken. I remember discussions back in 7th grade (’67) of the U.S. moving from a manufacturing economy to a service economy...which you chart clearly shows. I’ve worked in and around manufacturing nearly my entire career.
Innovations for manufacutring and production have contributed to the loss of many hands-on jobs. Saw that with robotic welders and soldering.
I agree on the stifling regulations being a hindrance to new companies and new jobs being created...but I’m not smart enough to go back and say which of the old laws or policies was THE cause. There are many reasons...and you both make valid points.
because I reject the Free Trade doxology and it causes you to have a melt down.
I'm not melting down, I'm just pointing out that you are a liberal shill.
I'll let you have the last word, so go ahead and post some more tripe.
I believe that the ever growing burden of workplace safety laws, minimum wage laws, workplace lawsuits over the ADA and so many other federal laws, have made workers a liability in mfg.
Environmental regs, accounting regs, taxes and other things have undoubtedly stunted new mfg in the US.
There is no easy fix to the mfg jobs dilemma, but I know that tariffs and other protectionist measures would only make it worse.
Ad hominem attacks on me don’t work. It just shows you lost your argument.
Have a nice day.
So you would punish American non-union workers because of FedGov over regulation? IMO No working American off of public assistance is a burden. Lamenting the welfare state and condoning off shoring of manufacturing is a little hypocritical isn't it? I haven't even got into the National security aspects of losing out manufacturing base.
Do you know that labor is only 10% of the MSRP of most manufactured goods?
You'll respond, they always do. I am attacking your religion so you will never stop posting back to me no matter what.
The tense is wrong
our formerly great cities have turned into open, festering sores.
The cities as they formerly existed are obsolete and out of style.
Change happens.
History does not show that tariffs will restore economic activity. You are looking for scapegoats and easy solutions. Tariffs will exacerbate problems of non competitiveness, increase prices, and make US industry non competitive. In addition, the hair-brained scheme that you suggest will cause a global trade war leading to reduced economic activity across nations. The world is very interconnected in commercial dealings. You are proposing to return to a bygone, idyllic world dominated by high tariffs. This bygone world does not exist anymore.

In time of real war, like a WWII scenario, who makes the ships, planes and tanks for our armed forces?
Politically-incorrect as it is to say it, that's the FACT.
NO ONE in the State-Run-Media can admit, recognize, or report on what cesspools Democrat-infested inner-cities are, and how FRAUD is rampant and used to offset the votes of those who actually PAY taxes, but live outside the cities. Your vote is neutered many times by illegal votes of parasites (including non-Citizens) and 2012 may very well see The Messiah re-elected, as the voterbase of the Democrats/Socialists/Progressives is made up of the dregs of society, most of whom pay NO TAXES but vote to get their handouts.

but if the unions didnt blackmail companies into paying stupid high pay for the employees, then maybe US companies wouldnt have to outsource jobs to make a profit.
Unions are a cancer because it kills the host in the end.
The majority of manufacturing jobs off shored were non-union.
“you will be ignored to death.”
Indeed

Like the population statistics from the above page.
Liberalism and a convergence of factors all play a part but without a doubt a very prominent factor is the relevance of demographics. Just as in New Orleans, Birmingham, E St Louis...
1820 95.29 4.71
1900 98.55 1.44
1940 90.71 9.19
1950 83.58 16.25
1960 70.73 28.87
1970 55.50 43.69
1980 34.38 63.07
1990 21.63 75.67
2000 12.26 81.55
2010 10.61 82.69
Bump for later.
I do not know much, if anything about those cities. What is, in your opinion, the reality that is taboo?
He has pretty much signaled that in 2012, he plans to “boost the economy” by ignoring Congress and simply issuing executive orders.
In other words, the Zimbabwe model of government comes to the USA.
“We Can’t Wait”
uh huh. They leftists can’t wait
