Hi Davey. I’m sorry to hear about your family’s travails. I, too, have been having problems with my father who has Alzheimers, a failing heart and other health issues.
But what concerns me most is your post about Fukushima. Be careful! There is a great deal of misinformation and hsteria circulating among blogs on the internet.
“...Diplomat Akio Matsumura is warning that the disaster at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japanmay ultimately turn into an event capable of extinguishing all life on Earth...In both cases the radioactive rods are not protected by a containment vessel; dangerously, they are open to the air. This would certainly cause a global catastrophe like we have never before experienced...”
Not a lot of facts in that statement. I know that the problem ISN’T reactor #4, but the spent fuel pool. If it collapses, now way will it extinguish all life on Earth. That is a ridiculous statement. As to the six reactors being shut down, I believe Fukushima is no longer operational, so they are already non-functioning.
“... He stressed that the responsibility of Japan to the rest of the world is immeasurable. Such a catastrophe would affect us all for centuries.”
I used to work at the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant, outside of Prescott, Oregon. The facility was shutdown and the fuel unloaded from the the reactor to the spent fuel pool. A few years later the pool was unloaded and the spent fuel stacked outside in the open air indise a secure fence. This did not result in a world-wide catastrophe and I sincerely doubt such would be the case at Fukushima.
If you can provide a source for the following I will debunk it: “...Still Spewing Massive Radiation Plumes; America In ‘Huge Trouble,’ Says Nuclear Expert Tsunami Debris Washes Ashore On The West Coast America In ‘Huge Trouble’ Says Nuclear Expert Harley...”
You have enough to worry about in your private life without reading this nonsense.
SD your expertise is needed over here.

Radioactive Tuna from Japan Found Off Calif. Coast

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Scientists say that migrating Pacific bluefin tuna off California's coast are carrying radioactive contamination from Japan.
According to findings in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the levels of radioactivity are 10 times higher than the amounts usually found.
Scientists sampled 15 tuna caught off San Diego and found that they all contained two radioactive substances — caesium-134 and caesium-137. The tuna have carried the radioactive contamination 6,000 miles from the waters near Japan's crippled nuclear plant.
It was damaged in a devastating magnitude 9.0 quake and subsequent tsunami in April 2011.
Experts say this is the first time that a huge migrating fish has been shown to carry radioactivity that far.
Previously, smaller fish and plankton in the waters off Japan were found to have higher-than-normal levels of radioactivity.
Scientists say that, even with the increased radioactivity, the levels in the tuna are still within the limits of what is safe to eat.
