Snip: In Germany, calls for greater scrutiny of the far-right intensified after the revelation in November that a neo-Nazi terrorist cell murdered at least 10 people, eight of them Muslim immigrants of Turkish origin, in a killing spree spanning more than a decade. The case has embarrassed German authorities and exposed them to criticism that they have been blind to the threat posed by racists.

The President and the Defense Secretary announced $487 billion in cuts over 10 years to the DOD. This includes tens of thousands of troops from the Army and the Marines. In 2013 another $500 billion in cuts from the failure of the Budget Super Committee will increase the total $1 trillion. This continues the trend of over cutting the military in the wake of war. Each time it precipitated the events that led to the next conflagration.
At the same time the President has decided to give our missile defense codes to the Russians. These people who have never done anything but seek to subvert and destroy us in every way they can. They are building more missiles which they continue to aim at us. They will give those missile codes to the Chinese and the Iranians. The Chinese are in the midst of the greatest military build up of their history. Iran, a country which has a national policy that believes in the coming of the 12th Imam and plans to set the world on fire to welcome him. They seek nuclear weapons and have actively killed Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan with the knowledge and indifference of the American government. These are the people we are opening our missile defense to.

OBAMA TO SHARE SECRETS (Will give Russians top secret missile data, if they promise to be good!)
WT ^ | Bill gertz

President Obama signaled Congress this week that he is prepared to share U.S. missile defense secrets with Russia.
U.S. officials are planning to provide Moscow with the SM-3 data, despite reservations from security officials who say that doing so could compromise the effectiveness of the system by allowing Russian weapons technicians to counter the missile. The weapons are considered some of the most effective high-speed interceptors in the U.S. missile defense arsenal.
There are also concerns that Russia could share the secret data with China and rogue states such as Iran and North Korea to help their missile programs defeat U.S. missile defenses.
Section 1227 of the new defense law prohibits spending any funds that would be used to give Russian officials access to sensitive missile-defense technology, as part of a cooperation agreement without first sending Congress a report identifying the specific secrets, how they would be used and steps to protect the data from compromise.
The president also must certify to Congress that Russia will not share the secrets with other states and that it will not help Russia to develop countermeasures to U.S. defenses.
The certification also must show whether Russia is providing equal access to its missile defense technologies, which are mainly nuclear-tipped anti-missile interceptors.
Mr. Obama said in the signing statement that he would treat the legal restrictions as non-binding.
While my administration intends to keep the Congress fully informed of the status of U.S. efforts to cooperate with the Russian Federation on ballistic missile defense, my administration will also interpret and implement section 1244 in a manner that does not interfere with the presidents constitutional authority to conduct foreign affairs and avoids the undue disclosure of sensitive diplomatic communications, Mr. Obama said, incorrectly identifying the section of the law containing the restrictions.

When Ignorance Is Not Bliss
Townhall.com ^ | January 8, 2012 | Michael Youssef

On December 13, 2011, Michael Gerson posted Gingrichs Embrace of Shallow Ideas on TownHall.com. In this column, he blasted former Speaker Gingrich for his honest assessment of Sharia law, its implications in the West, in general, and the United States, in particular.
The sad thing about Mr. Gerson is that he was President George W. Bushs speech writer. Though President Bush is a good man who is respected by so many, including me, his confused and incoherent policies regarding Islamic fundamentalism landed us in two wars one of which was totally unnecessary. I am referring to the Iraq War, a war that directly gave rise to the current Iranian threat and rise to power.
Mr. Gersons incoherent policies were inflicted upon us in conflicting statements made by Mr. Bush regarding Islam when he was president. He once referred to Islam as a religion of peace, but soon began calling it Islamofascism. Which one is it Mr. Gerson? He also inaccurately stated that Christians and Muslims worship the same God.
Speaker Gingrich has had the courage to call Sharia what it is: ...inherently brutal — defined by oppression, stonings and beheadings... For his courage, Speaker Gingrich needs to be praised, not criticized. The evidence of stoning and beheading women for the mere accusation of adultery fills the Saudi landscape. Only a person who decides to deliberately and meditatively place blinders on their eyes can ignore these realities. In fact, the harsh realities of Sharia are not limited to Islamic countries. As I recounted in my recent book, When the Crosses are Gone, Sharia law was upheld in New Jersey family court in 2009 when a woman was denied a restraining order against her Moroccan ex-husband who had repeatedly entered her home and forced her to have sex against her will. The ex-husband and his imam argued that Sharia law did not give her the right to deny him. She lived in fear of being raped by him for a year before the decision was overturned on appeal.
In Mr. Gersons most recent column, he bases his assessment regarding Sharia on the writings of a beleaguered, tiny minority of secular Muslims who, to their credit, are trying very hard to reinterpret Islam in the light of the 21st century. This beleaguered, threatened, tiny minority of secular Muslims is not only living under a constant threat by the Muslim majority, but are not even considered to be true Muslims by that same majority.
Had President Bush and his speech writer, Mr. Gerson, understood the realities on the ground in the Middle East, they would have called upon the King of Saudi Arabia to move into the 21st Century and abandon Sharia rather than hold hands with him on Mr. Bushs ranch in Crawford, TX.
Because I am neither a politician nor affiliated with a political party, it matters very little to me whether it is a Democrat or a Republican muddling the truth. Therefore, I call upon both Democrats and Republicans to face the facts of the danger of Sharia.

Thank you blueyon.
First of all, anyone who thinks that gwb was ignorant of islam and shariah is very naive or being overly kind. The saudi royal family and the bin laden family have been friends with the bushes almost forever and he was not unfamiliar with their customs. Further, he had muslims as close advisors along with the now infamous grover norquist.
After 9/11, bush made every effort to secretly move the sauds and bin laden families OUT of the USA as fast as they possibly could for their protection.
There is a lot more I could say, but it isnt really worth the effort since no one listens anyway.
Giving either bush or obama a pass on islam is ridiculous in the extreme and it just makes me angry when I see it in print or when people actually seem to believe it. They both know. So did clinton and others before him. That is why we have a completely islamicized state department. This is the greatest betrayal we have ever seen and nobody even has a clue.
bushe daddys Carlyle group has its main headquarters in Dubai. So does Haliburton. It was bush who tried to put the ports under their control. Do people honestly forget that quickly?

Suspected Islamic Extremist Arrested in Plot to Bomb, Shoot Up Locations in Tampa, Fla

Authorities say a 25-year-old described as an Islamic extremist was arrested in a plot to attack sites around Tampa, Florida, after taking possession of disabled guns and bombs
The U.S. Department of Justice announced the arrest of Sami Osmakac on Monday.
Authorities say Osmakac is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in the former Yugoslavia. He has been charged with one count of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction. His first appearance in federal court is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
Federal officials say a confidential source told them that Osmakac wanted Al Qaeda flags. The federal complaint alleges Osmakac gave the agent a $500 down payment for an AK-47, multiple homemade explosive grenades and the explosive belt so he could attack various locations in Tampa.
I wholeheartedly agree with your comments on GWB.

US State Department: Don’t worry, the Muslim Brotherhood has a nice side

On Thursday, U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland reacted to a statement by the Deputy Leader of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood that it would not recognize Israel under any circumstances with a mind-bogglingly naïve reassurance that we shouldnt worry:
Weve seen this press report. I would say that it is one member of the Muslim Brotherhood. We have had other assurances from the party with regard to their commitment not only to universal human rights, but to the international obligations that the Government of Egypt has undertaken.
Riiight. So, according to the State Department, we should believe the private assurances from the Muslim Brotherhood that theyll respect the peace treaty with Israel instead of the public statements of its top leaders?
The Muslim Brotherhood is already setting the stage to end the treaty. The same leader that said the Brotherhood wouldnt recognize Israel said that it would honor current treaties during the interim period. After that, the peace treaty with Israel will be submitted to a referendum.
The writing is on the wall. If the ruling Egyptian military council actually lets the Islamists take over (a big if), the Muslim Brotherhood will tell the U.S., Dont blame us. We honored the commitment, just like we told you we would. The people chose to cancel it.
Am I the only one that sees this as obvious?

CAIR’s Manipulation Tactics in Tampa
Familysecuritymatters.com ^ | 1-12-12 | Steve Emerson

As news of a terrorist plot by a radical Islamist in Tampa emerged Monday, the propaganda machine that is the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) launched into action, repeating its mantra of accusations against the FBI and offering excuses for the plotter. It’s a common pattern for an organization that positions itself between the public, government, and terrorist suspects, trying to control dialogue about Islamist terrorism suspects and cynically manipulating its own relationship with the government.
Local media played into CAIR’s plan, with the Tampa and St. Petersburg daily newspapers and television affiliates turning to the group for reaction, despite its own tainted record.
Early responses to Sami Osmakac’s plot from two of CAIR’s non-Florida representatives showed a disdain for the government’s arrest of another “innocent” Muslim suspect.
Executive Director of CAIR San Francisco Zahra Billoo, stated that she was “wondering how much of the thwarted terror plot in Florida was seeded by the FBI, [a]ppreciating that even the MSM mentioned the informants.” Dawud Walid, Executive Director of CAIR-Michigan, released a tweet saying, “It is not the job of civil rights groups to be commending the FBI on their use of informants, given the FBI’s history.”

CAIR’s Tampa Executive Director Hassan Shibly, both cast doubt on the government and tried to pretend violence doesn’t exist in radical Islamist ideologies.
“The weapons and explosives were provided by the government. Was he just a troubled individual, or did he pose a real threat?” Shibly asked Monday. He backed off Tuesday, saying “It doesn’t look like something we would pursue” in part because the Muslim community alerted authorities in the first place.
He also cast the role of the Muslim community as critical, while claiming that the community’s trust was violated by the actions of the government. “I mean he seemed to be a disturbed individual. He was actually an outcast from the Muslim community. He was banned from several of the mosques and it was the mosque that brought him to the attention of the FBI,” Shibly said in an interview with the local Fox News outlet, in contradiction to the criminal complaint that shows an informant tipped off the government. He likewise expressed “concern about a perception of entrapment,” even while saying that Osmakac was “no friend or supporter of the Muslim community.”
“I think the fear at the point is that he was just mentally disturbed...I think that community members hoped that by reporting him, he could get the proper assistance,” Shibly told an interviewer.
Apart from casting doubt on whether Osmakac was truly a threat, Shibly also repeated the mantra that religion should be ignored as a factor in the radicalization the terrorism suspect. When asked about Osmakac’s statement that he wanted his death to be in an Islamic way, Shibly parried and claimed Osmakac had nothing to do with Islam.
“For me it’s meaningless. It is very disturbing you know [the suspect’s statement] “to die in an Islamic way,” Shibly told FOX Tampa Bay. “Again, that is completely meaningless for me as a Muslim. You know Islam teaches peace and justice. It does not teach wanton violence which is what this guy was allegedly promoting.”
The affiliate did not push back when Shibly expressed concerns over whether the FBI “edged on” Osmakac into a violent plot he otherwise would not have pursued. It’s a standard CAIR line used to undermine public confidence in a terror-prosecution even though it has never held up in court. (For more on Shibly, click here.)
Other cases reflect the usual pattern of manipulation by CAIR.
Billoo, who immediately cast doubt on the Tampa case, reacted to the December 2010 arrest of a man who wanted to blow up a Portland Christmas tree lighting event by accusing the FBI of exaggerating the threat because it was “looking for a sensational story.” Last fall, CAIR-Michigan chief Dawud Walid downplayed an arrest in an Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi Arabian ambassador in Washington because a Drug Enforcement Administration informant played a key role. “If Holder hadn’t announced so many ‘foiled’ plots that were really FBI provocateur led, I’d be more inclined to believe this #Iran plot biz,” Walid said in a Twitter post.
Deadline pressure is never easy and reporters know that CAIR rarely turn away a microphone or a chance at appearing in the newspaper. But it’s mystifying to see reporters routinely ignore CAIR’s duplicity about law enforcement support, coupled with its own documented history in a terrorist-financing network, to accept the group’s talking points so blindly.

“All-American Muslim” Stars Busted for Marijuana Possession at Canadian Border
Yes, two cast members of TLC’s “All-American Muslim” were busted while crossing the Canadian border. The border officer caught the pair with nine grams of “the chronic” (a.k.a. “cannabis,” “giggle weed,” “ganja,” “dope,” “wacky tobacky,” “grass,” “indo,” “the herb,” “Mary Jane,” etc.).
Wow. If this was another desperate attempt to show us that Muslims really are “just like everyone else” . . . Genius!
Apparently, it is notoriously easy to get a “medical marijuana” card in Michigan. However, can anyone who watched “All-American Muslim” point to anyone on the show who displayed any symptoms that would require a sack of pot for a short trip to Canada?
Kind of boring to even report this. But it’s more interesting than anything that ever happened on the show.
DETROIT FREE PRESS—Two reality TV stars from TLCs All-American Muslim show found some real life drama at the Ambassador Bridge recently: Authorities said they were caught with pot at the border.
It happened on New Years Day, according to Ron Smith, spokesman for Customs and Border Protection in Detroit.
Smith told the Free Press today that two cast members of the TLC reality show were caught with 9 grams of marijuana in the trunk while trying to cross into the U.S. from Windsor. The cast members a man and a woman — were not named by authorities. One of them, Smith said, had a medical marijuana card, although federal law does not recognize the card.
TLC declined to comment

Opium production soars in Afghanistan: UN

Production of opium and the illicit crop’s value soared in Afghanistan last year, the United Nations said in a report released Thursday.
According to the UN’s Office on Drugs and Crime, farmer income derived from Afghanistan’s opium crop in 2011 was $1.4 billion (1.09 billion euros), representing nine percent of GDP.
“Opium is therefore a significant part of the Afghan economy and provides considerable funding to the insurgency and fuels corruption,” Yury Fedotov, executive director of the UN office, said in a statement.
Afghanistan grows about 90 percent of the world’s opium. The UN said poppy-crop cultivation covered more than 131,000 hectares in 2011, up seven per cent from the previous year.
The overall opium crop increased by 61 per cent, from 3,600 metric tons in 2010 to 5,800 metric tons in 2011.
