My brother once took a motorcycle trip across the country....one of those middle age itches that you scratch or suffer regrets. Same thing happened to him on Route 66. He stopped at a cafe in Arizona and found out the news...on 9/11/2001.

This little place on New Years would be celebratory with firecrackers popping and little sky rockets flying and this year there were next to none. The bars were closed and the only traffic on the streets were ambulances and police cars.....and of course my internet went kaput for half the day yesterday and half the day today.

I suppose some lame explanation will come out soon so that conspiracy theories are rebutted when everybody goes back to work after their non holiday.

Happy New Year!

I am totally amazed at how quiet everything around here was except for several minutes of someone with firecrackers. Normally, it goes on and on and on for what seems forever.

This little town has only one road that goes from one end to the other. Our property backs up to it. Every new years eve it is as noisy as any big city. This year, nary a vehicle was heard. Very, very, strange!
