If you track enough Deace stuff you eventually run into the meat of his arguments ~ Trigg Palin ~ he criticized a handicapped baby.

Since I don't live in Iowa, I didn't know anything about Deace either until a few months back. This is what I dug up:
Articles about Deace, his influence and reach:

Meet Steve Deace: Iowa Radio’s Christian Conservative Hitmaker – and Hitman

Steve Deace

To appreciate the impact Deace has had on the body politic in the Iowa, one only needs to look at the results of the 2008 presidential caucuses and the 2010 Republican gubernatorial primary. In both instances, Deace publicly backed candidates and used his radio show to promote them. In the 2008 caucuses, Mike Huckabee dominated central Iowa from the Missouri to the Minnesota boarder. Mitt Romney, who Deace attacked and mocked on a daily basis, only won counties on the eastern and western edges of the state, except for Dallas County, which he narrowly won. Huckabee crushed Mitt Romney in the 2008 caucuses, and it’s safe to say that there was more behind his impressive Iowa victory than just Steve Deace, but Deace was certainly a factor.

According to Deace's website, he has three radio affiliates in Iowa. KTIA (FM), KMA (AM), and WHO (AM).

Steve Deace's radio affiliates
Some here suggest that Deace has no influence and have used the term "asshat" to describe him. Others say he has some reach. The media has certainly produced several headlines about this endorsement. Hard to tell what impact this endorsement will if any. But for Newt fans, anything is better than nothing...

He’s an Iowan with a syndicated radio show, who gets way more attention than he’s worth on his releases of intellectual flatus. In this case, it’s better for you to remain clueless.

There’s no story here... Move along...

Might not mean much to people outside of Iowa, but he has a very loyal Iowa listening audience. Given much credit for Huck’s win there 4 years ago.

Here’s an article about him:
