A poor, unemployed Muslim is a Muslim with no options other than what his clerics tell him to do for a meager handout. They would rather the people be poor, than risk cultural contamination from infidels.

My thought, too.

Muslims and leftists have been working as close allies for some time, even though they would see to have very different views about such things as the rights of women and gays.

Another analogy would be Communists and Nazis. Hitler and Stalin worked together very happily, dividing up Poland. It was only when they had eliminated their other rivals that they fell out with each other.

Presumably the same would be true of the Muslims and the leftists. They’ll continue to work together until they think they see victory within reach. Then they’ll turn on each other for final dominance.
