I feel about this the way I felt about Alan Grayson’s defeat. On the one hand: Oh yes. On the other hand: Don’t you want her to be there when ObamaCare gets repealed?
Personally, I blame Obama’s aloofness.
Alexandra Pelosi, daughter of House Minority Leader and former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, told Big Government this week that her mother wants to leave Congress–and that she remains in Washington only at the behest of her campaign donors.
During a telephone interview, Ms. Pelosi–speaking from a friend’s home in New York City–described her mother’s predicament:
She would retire right now, if the donors she has didn’t want her to stay so badly. They know she wants to leave, though. They think she’s destined for the wilderness. She has very few days left. She’s 71, she wants to have a life, she’s done. It’s obligation, that’s all I’m saying.
Pelosi’s spokesman denies it, calling it “wishful thinking on the part of a right-wing blog” even though the story’s based on a quote from, er, her own daughter. As for the substance of that quote, I’m not sure how to take it. Presumably it means Pelosi’s running for re-election … even though her own donors think it’s unlikely she’ll be Speaker again. Which means what? That she’ll serve out one more two-year term as minority leader and then quit? Or that she’ll run this year, get re-elected, and then resign if the Democrats aren’t back in the majority? Or that she’ll decide to retire a few months from now once she has a better sense of how the next Congress will shake out? Eight veteran Dems have already thrown in the towel, you know, so I can’t believe Pelosi’s still holding out hope of getting the gavel back.
Karl Rove predicted this morning that either she or Reid or both would quit the leadership in 2012. Does he know something? Exit question: Who’s Nancy going to get her stock tips from now?
Hey, if it was possible I would spray the lot of the Piglouses to rid the nation of these ectoparasites.
Pelosi thinks the DoJ and the courts are going to reapportion enough seats to the Rats to get the Speakership back. That’s why she’s still going to run in ‘12 “for the children.”
The reality is she got so full of herself that she can’t stand being just 1 of 435 now and not “entitled” to that personal jet she had while SPEAKER, nor does she get that press time like before. We need a full disclosure on ALL representatives and start the prosecutions of ALL those who broke the laws of this land. If those who are supposed to be lawmakers cannot KEEP the laws, then they need to be thrown in jail JUST LIKE YOU AND ME.
She’s a power junkie. She might “retire”, but she’s not going away. She’ll become a lobbyist, she’ll still be an insider, won’t have any trouble getting stock tips and causing further misery.
Someone should tell Alexandra that the only way out of organized crime is death—either natural or ordered by the Godfather.
Pelosi has done about as much damage to this country as anyone and made herself rich in he process. This country will be much better off when she is gone.
Put her in the federal penitentiary where she belongs and THEN I might believe her daughter saying that she wants out.
I'll be glad to mail her, by priority mail, a piece of paper and a pen to write out her resignation.
If she really "wants out", then she needs to hit the door, and not let it hit her where the Good Lord split her (or maybe LET IT!).
