I found the movie boring, my wife, whom I did not know at that time, finds Streep boring, too, based on Out of Africa which I think she more or less ruined. I just picked that The French Leiutenant's Woman as something that was current at that time. My companion of the evening had a lot of issues, but I suspect she eventually found a more compatible soul mate. She was getting over a rough break up and I was not the hand holding over a hot cup of camomile type. I was wrong person at the wrong time, our separation was mootchal. She was sleeping with me to get over her last boyfriend, which seldom works out for anyone.

So you knew that you and she had nothing in common and the relationship would go nowhere and that she was vulnerable coming off a bad breakup and yet knowing this, you slept with her anyway? “Yea, I know, she was asking for it”. What a prince you are. :(

I’m glad that she perhaps eventually found a more compatible soul mate. She may well look back on your date as the one that woke her up to meaningless one night stands with guys who have no other interest than in getting laid. Again she probably remembers the movie and the popcorn as the best part of the evening.

Again, this says a lot more about your character than it does about Streep’s ability as a character actress.
