I go back to that old joke about, "Have you ever lied about liking a Meryl Streep movie to get a date?" (Guilty, The French Leiutenant's Woman. My date was not impressed, though I got laid anyway. There were no subsequent dates.)

I think that if your only purpose for seeing a movie was to get laid by your date afterward, you probably werent paying much attention to the movie or the acting in it or to your date for that matter. But I hope at least you had a good time.
And consider the possibility that there were no more dates might have had more to do with your performance that Streeps. Your date might well remember the popcorn as the highlight of the evening.
Just saying.

"old joke"
I felt the same for many years. I started wondering if I was the only person who thought Streep was the most overrated actress ever. (Julia Roberts is not overrated, she's just a bad actress.) But she was good in the flick about Julia Childs, so I'll modify my sour attitude towards her slightly.
