WASHINGTON The District of Columbia has been ordered to pay more than $1 million in attorneys' fees as a result of a historic gun case that was ultimately decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Dick Heller sued the city in 2003 over its ban on handgun ownership and the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the ban in June 2008, saying it violated the Second Amendment.
A federal judge on Thursday issued an opinion awarding Heller's attorneys $1,137,072.27 in fees and expenses. The attorneys had argued they should be awarded $3.1 million. Attorneys for the city said the figure should be closer to $840,000.

Justice!
Thank you George W. Bush.
He and the Second Amendment Foundation deserve a lot more, in addition to our gratitude.
BTT. This is the consequence of the liberal government attitude “we’ll do whatever we want, Constitutional or not, and even when the Supreme Court says we can’t, we’ll do it anyway.” It ought to come out of the pockets of the pols who abuse their offices this way, IMHO.
Now if someone could be successful doing the same to Chicago.
The decision was far from unanimous....which makes me think the SCOTUS should be screened for reading impairment.
Yes,best news I heard the whole day! When they gonna sue NYC for vialation of 2ND ammendment, can hardly wait? To all the people in free states,FL,AZ,PA,etc.. you just don’t realize the life in NYC commie hell whole: BB guns are even illegal, knifes are illegal, you have to apply and wait months to get a 5-Shot shotgun and you can only keep at at home. All you guys with AR15’s, AK47’s sitting there on thousands rounds of ammo: we can only have like 200 rounds at home. You can forget of carrying a gun on your person. And no its not easy to move, when you have a job here, friends, home,etc.. When the 2ND amendment organization will finally liberate this town from liberal tyranny.
NYC needs to be next.

NRA, what say you?
Makes more sense to me.
The so-called legal system and justice system have failed miserably thus far.
Yeah, to bad it’s the taxpayers who get stuck with the bill.
What a perfect racket the government is, pass unconstitutional laws and then defend them with taxpayers money.
If those taxpayers elect people who ignore the Constitution, they deserve whatever they get.
