Listenin' to and lovin' radio since the 1940s it is just that I have never known anyone so seemingly blasé.
Of course very few have the talent that Savage has to just show up and do the show. Talk show hosts from whom I've heard it described say they spend two or three hours working for each one hour on the air.
San Francisco KSFO's former host (0500 - 0900) Lee Rodgers claimed to show up to work around midnight to do show prep.
Savage mostly seems to have the freedom to do what he wants when he wants --- a kind of federal civil service GS attitude. :)
...I was a contractor for many years, best gig I ever had. As long as I met deadline I work my own hours. Some days 12, some 3-4. Nights weekends, whatever I had to do to get the next gig.
