Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes your don’t...
This is not going to be like some British surrender of a small patrol craft where the sailors are paraded like some prize won at the arcade...
We have had some interesting encounters with the knuckleheads in the past...It is well documented, and they are a risk to some extent...
The issue is if they start doing that kind of closing and dodging with our capital ships and other assets in the gulf, or other waters in the area, its going to be tht much more dangerous for them...
A good commander will not seek a confrontation (in this case), but they will be prepared to take care of the situation when it comes to clearly defending themselves on the spot...
We may have our doubts about the President and his track record on tactical military decisions...
But I, and many others, have the upmost confidence with the folks on the ground, sea and air over there right now...
I just wish I could sign back up for the fun...I miss it every day...
OMG!!! How dare we do something like this!!! /sarc
We are just going to keep pushing and pushing Iran to close off these Straights of Hormuz if we keep provoking them!!! /SARCASM
It’s not the reverse bearings that I am concerned about, it’s the forward ones and the ones at nautical 90 degrees that worry me. : )
What about a pipeline across Saudi Arabia? That way the Strait loses its strategic significance, and Iran along with it.
Thanks for link.
OR WHAT?.............you ask?
Seriously, man...If the Iranians “disrupt etc.” someone might interrupt Barry on the golf course, and that will upset him.
Our Great Leader (OGL) will be forced to take steps....and charge CDR Frost for speaking out of line. Then OGL will bow towards Mecca and apologize to all Islam.
Post #103 explains how that doubles the problem if a nation at those two choke points decides to do the same thing...
That is if you meant putting the pipeline terminal somewhere along the Red Sea...
I believe they already have a few pipelines doing that now...

This is all bogus, of course, but many, many ignorant voters will buy this crap. Obama's best asset is his ability to blame others (Bush), & IMO, if the Straits are blocked, it WILL be Bush's fault.
Fortunately, this wont trump long gas lines at $5/gal - 10 gallon limit. That will kill his reelection, for sure. So will a reluctance to reopen the Straits quickly & violently - you know how he likes to postpone difficult decisions.
IDK, but I trust the Navy more than the administration OR the Senate. Or the House or State Department, for that matter.
And the United States decided to join the Soviets in breaking the back of the Franco-British-Israel operation. Never have understood why Eisenhower made that decision, except that the allies left him out of the loop.
