What, If Anything, Could Convince a Ronulan Not to Vote for Ron Paul
Redstate ^ | 12/26/2011 | Leon H. Wolf

The latest Ron Paul revelation is that, apparently, he would not have sent American troops to Europe in World War II to stop the Holocaust. I mean, we’re getting to the point where this sort of thing isn’t even surprising anymore. To me, the key passage in this particular story is this:

Paul then looked at me, and I politely thanked him for his time. He smiled at me again and nodded his head, and many of his young followers were also smiling, and nodding their heads in agreement. Clearly, I was the only one in the room who was disturbed by his response.

I think we are long past the point where supporting Paul has become a status symbol of sorts for his supporters. Supporting Paul doesn’t say as much about Paul as it does about you and how hip you are. You are not “Establishment,” you reject conventional thought about how a Presidential candidate should look and act, you are blazing the path for future third way candidates. Consider this fawning and servile piece by Tim Carney in which we are informed that it is the “GOP Establishment” that has improperly drawn “the bounds of permissible dissent” at excluding racist cranks, 9/11 truthers, and propagandists for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Yes, Ron Paul is the Barack Obama of 2012, and Tim Carney is playing the part of Andrew Sullivan.

Is it the Ronulan vote that should be of concern? Or is it the percentage of lost, confused, ignorant, Republicans/Conservatives that may be supporting ol' Ron that we need to worry about? If Paul was only polling his usual Ronulan vote, would he being doing as well as he is? Or has that many people truly gone Ronulan?

You could try calling him a retarded piece of excrement who doesn’t know what’s good for him and shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

You could but that hasn’t been working very well so far.

Only complete nuts (Paulbots) would vote for a nut (Paul) who spewed that stupidity.

Well that’s because Newt just exudes experience.

Nobody is as prepared and dedicated to the chase.

I dunno.

Maybe convince one of the other candidates to pretend to support the US Constitution as it is written?...

Too radical an idea for any of those I see now.

Like another poster mentioned, if supporting the Constitution isn’t doable, then you could call him a raving lunatic.

Or just skip to that second one.

That’s a good strategy too. Slam your fists on the keyboard and spit at the screen. That’ll show ‘em.

I don’t know if it matters for the argument, but America didn’t enter the European theatre because of the Holocaust.

From the article; “I have long theorized that the base of Paul’s support is hardcore anti-war leftists who find Barack Obama insufficiently dovish.”

“Or has that many people truly gone Ronulan?”

FURP!

I have a dream.

That America will wake to a bright future, when Republicans are as fanatically determined to taking on Obama, as they are at demolishing other Republicans.

Nah... absurd. Won’t happen.

Most of his supporters aren’t Republicans:

Short of that? Not much.

Paul bots (most of his supporters but not all, so if this doesn’t apply to you don’t be offended:) are cult like in their following as opposed to being normal supporters.

Most folks have a favorite candidate or two among the field - and will change from time to time and adjust as their candidate drops out or another one rises to the top. For example, there are folks who are Newt-Perry in some order or perhaps Bachmann-Santorum in some order or Mitt-Huntsman etc.

Many Cain folks quickly moved to Newt early and then some later to Perry, Bachmann and Santorum. (These are just examples.)

They normally vote only once in straw polls and once in internet polls. They will applaud at a debate but will not try and scream over the others.

But Paul bots? Have you ever heard them ever mention they have a second favorite? Have you ever heard them admit someone else would be better than Obama?

They are just an entirely different breed of political animal. I have far more trouble with many Paul bots than I do with Paul himself. (altho the 911 truther over tones - or under tones - pisses me off bad).

Or we could all head to Iowa tomorrow on the next plane out to counter the misguided Paulbot nerds.

The best way to persuade the "lost, confused and ignorant" is to insult us at every opportunity. Why don't you try to convince us that Romney or Gingrich might somehow be less detrimental than Obama, is that too tall an order?

Well no. You have to live in the precinct to get into the caucus. Unless you are such a fanatic that you’d get a phony ID.
