Good point, but it’s the RPV - Republican Party of Virginia, not the RNC. I am not sure but I think each state party has a lot of leeway in how they run their primaries.
And while I normally cannot stand the RNC - their new Chairman is a decent tea party type guy from Wisconsin who helped the bids of Scott Walker and Senator Johnson. Whether he can save the RNC from itself is yet to be seen, but he’s not the normal RNC chair.
I believe that this falls under the Constitution, under the right to vote. These are nothing more than unreasonable rules from a small committee. These are not laws and they are changed without notifying the public.
Something stinks in all of this, especially these last minute changes that favored Romney only. Paul was fostered in because he was a former candidate in 2008. The rest were completely excluded because they could not possibly meet these extremely complicated and expensive to comply with, “rules”. It is especially unconstitutional to disqualify the front runner for technical reasons, dreamed up at the last minute, when that front runner provided the required number of signatures that were formerly acceptable in all past election practices.
