EDITORIAL: Obama blows off Congress

President says he won’t abide by spending bill he signed

When the president of the United States signs a bill into law, it’s expected that he will abide by it. That’s not the case with President Obama, who has a sudden interest in novel legalistic interpretations getting him off the hook from laws he doesn’t like.

On Friday, the president signed the $1 trillion omnibus spending bill, which funds the government for the remaining nine months of the fiscal year. Afterward, he released a statement saying he won’t abide by the law because the Justice Department had advised that certain provisions are “subject to well-founded constitutional objections.” House Speaker John A. Boehner’s spokesman Kevin Smith told The Washington Times, “This president used to condemn the type of signing statements he is now embracing to ignore the will of Congress and the American people.”

One of the presidential pet peeves is that Capitol Hill put the kibosh on his czars. Those high-level White House appointments aren’t confirmed by the Senate but are central to implementing Mr. Obama’s liberal agenda. Lawmakers specifically blocked funding for salaries and offices for four of his nine czars: health care (who coordinates Obamacare), automobile industry (“car czar”), urban affairs and climate change. The president protested that defunding those positions “could prevent me from fulfilling my constitutional responsibilities, by denying me the assistance of senior advisers and by obstructing my supervision of executive branch officials.” Thus, he’s going to interpret the law as he sees fit.

Yet another awful Bush precedent that Obama ran against is retained and expanded upon.

Yep, at the very least Obama, Holder and Napolitano should be impeached and prosecuted for breaking existing law, IMO.

I agree with you. I think too many folks are hanging their hats on the 2012 elections. Personally, I don’t think it’s (2012 elections) gonna matter much than say which party breaks the Constitution less. D.C. is a total wash and corrupt to the core.

We’re in a Marxist dominated Oligarchy.

It won’t matter one little bit who occupies the White House in 2013.

His entire presidency ignores numerous well-founded constitutional objections.

“Obama gets away with it because Congress takes no action to stop him. The House can impeach but will not.”

Will a Republican Senate after the election clear this up? Will a Republican Senate VETO a Supreme Court appointment made by a (God forbid) Obama 2nd term?

It does get old thinking/voting them in/knowing the GOP will always cave on a ‘you scratch my back and I’ll Bawney Fwank you’ so called “trick”/Deal the libtards continue to pull on our spineless GOP leaders.

Finally we have a winner.

Today I was watching FFN and they were talking about all the out of work fisherman because of the increased regulations from NOAA, and I naturally thought what a turd Ozero was till I found out this was taped in 2006 during the reign of George II. I refuse to be played any longer.
