The answer isn’t a loon like Paul

“What makes Palin/Reagan more of an ideal conservative than Bachmann, Santorum, Newt or Perry? “

Electability.

Americans might like hearing Newt blast Obama during the campaign but they won't like Newt insulting them --- and he will -- if you disagree with him (and it will be difficult to know which position he is taking as he moves from one to another so quickly) it will be you who are too stupid to see the logic in his brilliant leadership and insight about solutions.

Voters seem to think Obama is "smart" and consider that a plus. The fact is Newt is smarter than Obama and is smarter than me, you and 99% of the American public. Nevertheless, Newt is able to explain his positions on issues much more clearly than Perry, Santorum, Romney, etc. Newt doesn't "move too quickly" from one position to another, you must be thinking of Romney. If you can't keep up with Newt's explanations, then it may very well be true that your intellect is where the problem lies. The way that he understands and explains every nuance of issues like Islamic terrorism inparticular is SO important for this country to hear. Frankly, I'm not going to vote for a dumber, less articulate candidate because I think they're more electable. We already know the left will play that angle against us as they did with W and Bush. Voting for Newt eliminates that line of attack completely. If people are so dumb that they would prefer to vote for a dumber candidate because they're "more like me," then the country is lost, at least at the presidential level, and they deserve 4 more years of B.O.

The answer is NOT the status quo.

I'm not on board totally with RP, only cause I think he has too many headwinds to beat O-bozo.

I do like his positions. I go out to his site to read what he stands for on each issue....so, what's not to like?

I loved Ross Perot. Very intelligent, a patriot, pro American. The establishment made him out to be a loon as well.

So, why should I believe that RP is a loon? Everytime the MSM or opponents throw out something to discredit Paul, I go out to research his position from his own writings or interviews in response.

Not what people continue to parrot. The majority of what has been said about Ron Paul is nothing more than hog-warsh to discredit and have his poll numbers trickle down a point or two.

I'd bet very few who come out against Ron Paul have even taken the time to read his views much less go out to Gingrichs site or Perry's.

Just parroting what they've heard.

That doesn’t explain why you think Ron Paul is getting those votes. And I think Bachmann is the only one with serious electability questions among those 4. Palin was unfairly treated, but her gaffes were so played up by the media that I think she would have less electability than Newt, Perry or Santorum. She could recover in a campaign, but only if she never made anything like the same kind of gaffes. I haven’t seen her layer on enough depth on the issues in her various interviews since she left the governorship to make me believe she would be able to avoid the same traps. She knows the conservative theology inside and out but doesn’t seem to have the ability to link it to specific real-world examples and make it relevant to people’s lives.

You sound just like Newt.

Thank you for posting such a perfect description of his attitude about his “lessors.”

BUMP!

Give him a call. He likes people like you around him.

What do you understand Ron Paul's position on Israel to be and is that your position too?

What is your position on legalizing drugs?

Do you think if we leave the Middle East alone they will be happy to let the U.S. and Israel alone and live in peace?

Do you believe Ron Paul can cut $1 Trillion dollars in the first year of a Paul term? How do you see that happening?

Well, Paul says a few things that make us go .. Yesssss.

And then there is the dark side where he says things that make us go ..... Never, as God is my witness.

Thanks, I only wish I could sound as articulate, informed and intelligent as Newt all of the time. He’s much smarter than me and I learn something every time I listen to him. Unlike some voters, I like to learn rather than have my ignorance validated and reinforced by those who would condescend and talk down to me.

I think some people are over-estimating Obama’s chances for re-election.

Even with the main stream media on his side, his negatives are high.

And the wild enthusiasm for him is gone so a lot of voters who ordinarily don’t bother and made the effort for him last time won’t bother this time.

This man has no redeeming virtues. If he gets to appoint another supreme court judge we’ll be sunk.

Then you’re betting on the wrong horse.

You like a talker.

I will vote for Perry, the doer.

Liberals won`t vote for 0bama??

Not buying it. They`re just posturing... liberals love 0bama more than life itself. They`re just not admitting it openly.

I agree with his position of foreign aid with the exception of Israel. His position is that the constitution does not subscribe Americans have money confiscated and sent to foreign entities. In principal I agree. With that said, Israel should be an exception.

Secondly, the war on drugs has been a miserable failure. Main reason, you cannot have a war on drugs AND an open border. In this respect, hundreds of billions have been shelled out to foreign countries...and disappeared. Either we shut down the borders along with war on drugs or we abandon the effort all together.

Third question, No. We've stirred the hornets nest. Muzzies are diametrically opposed to our way of life and religion. Theologically, they want to dominate us. Do they have the ability? Would they have any ability if we halted muzzie immigration to this country? Can they woop us militarily? The answers are NO and or none.

I have an issue with crossing sovereign borders/airspace to kill adversaries without a formal declaration of war and outside the original subscription of constitutional mandates. Wonder how we'd feel if Mexico sent hit squads into our country? Oh wait, they have! Pisses us off, now doesn't it?

Fourth question. I do or at least I believe it can be done. That is unless the status quo up in Washington refuse to execute what is clearly the WILL of the people. Dems and Pubs alike are putting the screws to us...sorry, it's just fact. Gotta start somewhere. Auditing the secret realm of the “not so” Federal Reserve is a great damn start.

Begin focusing on elimination of redundant departments in government and turning these back to the states. You know, how the framers intended. Hell, do it by executive order...why not, Bush, Clinton and O-bozo gave perfect precedence in which to follow.

Truth is, if the republicans want independent conservatives to vote for their candidates....Fix the candidates.

Decades of moderate to left policy has destroyed our way of life, our culture, our strength. I'm to believe voting for the lesser of two evils or status quo will allow me to facilitate real reform in what has become the most corrupt, perverted government we've ever witnessed?

Hmmmm. We gotta think outta the box. Sorry for the length of the post, but'chew asked.

I think both talking and doing are important to win the election and be a good president. Newt has a history of doing a whole lot, especially showing the fearlessness to fight his own party when they capitulated to the Democrats. As we saw with W, a Texas political career doesn’t prepare you to take on Democrats in Washington, because Texas Democrats are such a toothless entity.

Perry would be far and away better than O-bozo. Being the Governor of my state, I know Perry and his policies better than most in the country.

Sticks in my craw that he attempted to confiscate by use of imminent domain thousands of acres of private farm and ranch land to benefit his lil pet project...Trans-Texas corridor. Built and operated by a foreign company for the movement of foreign (Chinese) goods from foreign ports (Mexican) by foreign trucks (Mexican) into the heartland.

This would have circumvented thousands of U.S. jobs from dock workers to truckers. From security to merchant marines, from restaurants to admin services. Yep, that's ol Rick Perry.

Perry's use of big brother government executive order to mandate gardasil injections for our school aged girls.

Perry allowing in state tuition rates for illegals. Wouldn't you give our serviceman and woman that same opportunity? Nope, just children of illegal aliens.

Taxes on businesses went up in Texas, Perry's working on a massive toll road network to generate revenue. Guess tolls are not considered a tax.

Despite all Perry's anti-Warshington rhetoric regarding the border, he’z done little on his own to tighten the border. In fact, he allowed a sanctuary city bill to die on the vine. This bill would have mandated cities such as Houston to check the status of persons in this country illegally. Not gonna happen now that Perry's running on a national stage...gotta get out that hispanic vote don't cha know.

Perry stood toe to toe with Hillary Clinton as she attempted to shove Hillary Care down the throats of Americans.

(This next one really takes the cake for me) Perry championed Al Gores campaign here in Texas. Does a leapord ever really change his spots? Besides, it was RINO maker Karl Rove that convinced Perry to re-brand as a republican.

Not to mention Perry's dismal performance on a national stage and his arrogant mannerisms. All this talk about Perry creating jobs and all that is poppy cock. It was our conservative dominated legislature that got all this accomplished.

As you can tell, I'm not a fan. I would vote for him over Romney and of course the big O-bozo. Rick's had his eyes on this prize for a couple of years despite the numerous reassurances that he was not seeking the presidency. Well, guess that was just a lil white lie.

Nutball Paul is for total open borders. To that moron, any fence or guards at the border are there to lock you in.

All coins will have to be pure gold or silver with a POTUS Paul. That would do away with anything less than a quarter, and that will be smaller than a grain of sand.

Iran getting Nukes is just fine with Nutball Paul, they will kill all the evil Joooos’. He hates them anyway.

You just have trouble admitting that he is nuts.

something that didn't even work for Douglas MacArthur!

The unwritten history of MacArthur's run (1952) is that Senator Taft was about to throw his delegates to MacArthur after the first ballot, giving him the win. However the first ballot was re-engineered in Eisenhower's favor by one "Tricky Dick" Nixon with his unfair "Fair-Play" machinations.

The New-England liberal wing of the Republican Party, just like the Dimm's are not at all above stealing things.

In fact, this is the ONLY thing working in the Mitt-ster's favor in my mind. He can at least meet the Dimm's on their level.

Stop all the parroting and do the research for yourself.

Man oh man, it's post like this that give the American electorate a bad name.

http://www.ronpaul2012.com/the-issues/national-defense/

Excerpts from Paul's website:
A nation without borders is no nation at all

Enforce Border Security – America should be guarding her own borders and enforcing her own laws instead of policing the world and implementing UN mandates.

No Amnesty - The Obama Administration’s endorsement of so-called “Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, will only encourage more law-breaking

So, you want to forget everything he has said and done over the years, and go by what some campaign Aide put on a website?

By that standard Mutt Romney would be a staunch conservative.
