If this report is true, then every single argument from the “rules are rules” crowd is totally blown out of the water. Every single one of them.
And yes- if this report is true - then Newt and Perry would certainly have a case and maybe the others as well.
But what has not been reported is that in the only other presidential primaries in which Virginia required 10,000 signatures (2000, 2004, and 2008) the signatures were not checked.
He's already had sit downs with Romney.
Guess he's doing a flip flop from Conservatism to baby killing and give aways to the illegal aliens, plus a little more Fascism in the vending of medicine.
Ken Cuccinelli probably ought to check out the Governor's real relationship to this situation ~ maybe get him booted out of office so the Lt. Governor can move up ~
Here’s an article on this fellow Osborne and his lawsuit...
I’m no lawyer, but it looks like an equal protection issue.

Well you don’t have to get snippy about it.
If it “is true”, it shows that the “rules are rules” crowd have a basis for the argument, namely this filed lawsuit that challenges any laxity in checking signatures.
I can’t say if the RPV was this careful in checking signatures in 2008. I don’t remember them asking for volunteers, and I can’t remember how many signatures everybody submitted, but I think I remember Romney had more than 15,000 then as well.
But if they are worried that a lawsuit would bump their candidates off the ballot and put our delegate assignment in jeopardy, that would be a GOOD reason to follow the law more closely.
I hope there is something that can be done, but I’m not holding my breath, nor am I having a hissy fit or blindly attacking the men and women who work for the party here in Virginia, one of whom (a volunteer) lost his life driving home in the middle of the night after counting these signatures.
I was one of the “rules are rules” people, but now that I know of this BS, my opinions are changing.
If Newt, Perry, etc., had months to prepare for this and fell short then shame on them. But if this new development is true, then shame of the VA GOP and RNC for not asking for a reconsideration.
