I’m not sure how dangerous Mexico is, anyway, compared to places like East St. Louis, IL. I remember some Mexican American non-coms on the Army, who were nicest, most family oriented people (aside from Mormons, possibly) that I had ever known in my life.
I can carry a gun in East St. Louis.
Confusing isn’t it when I ask myself, “Who produced Mexico?”
Sadly, it's turned into a cesspool. I also remember when border towns like Tijuana and Juarez were cheap, good times for American travelers. Veracruz has been off-limits for a while now.
I guess I'll give kudos to the drug lords for keeping the violence, more or less, south of the border. I can still travel the streets of Chula Vista or Imperial Beach safely. Hopefully, it stays that way, for a while anyways.
If you want to know what the drug violence in Mexico looks like, google "chainsaw execution" and don't say I didn't warn you. And the next time you put a bong to your lips or snort a line up your nose, think of those two guys. They paid a pretty high price.
...Still, probably safer than E. St. Louis though...
