“When you go to a Pawn shop, you better know what you are taking there , and what you are buying.”
Excellent point! You can get skinned alive if you do not know what you are doing. Then again you can get some smoking hot deals. Always negotiate.
They make their living by knowing better what has been put in front of them than the usually desperate people who put it there, and by knowing better than the bargain hunters who come to their shops looking for bargains.
It’s the soon-to-be-former pawn shop owner who knows less about a given item than a customer before them, whether that customer is pawning, selling or buying. If selling, you’ll certainly get less than it’s actually worth to accomodate their higher than normal retail markup, and if you seem too desperate or too clueless, you’ll get a whole lot less.
If it weren’t for desperation, these people would do a whole lot better for themselves by taking retail for a comparable item, knocking ten percent off of it and selling it themselves.
