the apparent fact that many of the rag-tag teenage soldiers were trying to surrender as they were entombed.

Is that true? If it is, some of you might want to rethink celebrating this. There is something called the Law of Armed Conflict.

Never any proof that surrendering Iraqi soldiers were buried alive.

THe bunkers the Iraqi soldiers were in were at least three stories tall (two below the ground), built with typical German efficiency.

They had to have a backdoor to flee thru and you just don’t sit there when you hear American tanks coming to visit you.

Ron Paul is more than an isolationist, he is mentally ill, a Jim Leach on stereoids. He was strange the first time I met him, many decades ago. He’s still strange, but more dangerous to America today than ever before.

Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing in any of the various Hague and Geneva Conventions that requires an offer of surrender to be accepted. It is usually US policy to do so, but that policy can be suspended.

First, if you think our troops would do such a thing, it says volumes about YOU!

Second, this is a typical liberal angle.....make up an allegation that is impossible to prove one way or the other and hope that it sticks.

I find the fact that Ron Paul picked this up and trumpeted it demonstrates his disdain for our military men and women.

Who says this? Ron Paul? If so, dubious IMO. There were many Iraqis that surrendered and were treated with the dignity due to POWs. However, many didn't and met their fate. War isn't pretty and any time the facts aren't clear, give the soldiers the benefit of the doubt. If you have never been in combat, you don't understand how chaotic it can be. It's not always cut and dry.

I recommend you read ‘To Hell and Back’ by Audie Murphy. In WWII it was quite common for German soldiers to misrepresent their willingness to surrender, then try to distract their captors, or get them to move where others could open fire.

Surrender is a delicate business, and takes some time to accept. If you are remaining in your fire position, next to your weapons, behind cover, you are still resisting. Surrender would be to expose yourself, leave your position of cover, and separate yourself from your weapons. US officers checked to be sure that Iraqis could have survived if they had surrendered. The ones that didn’t surrender, died with their boots on.
