TRENTON Eight months after losing one redistricting contest, Republicans have prevailed in another that will put U.S. Reps. Scott Garrett (R-5th Dist.) and Steve Rothman (D-9th Dist.) in one North Jersey district, to Garretts partisan advantage. Congressional redistricting tiebreaker John Farmer, Jr. this morning informed Republican and Democrat redistricting commissioners by phone that he will cast his vote with the Republicans proposal when they meet at the Statehouse at 10 a.m, according to one Democrat and one Republican source with knowledge of the commission's inner-workings.

I think I need to stay away from FR and politics for a bit. I seem to have lost my Christmas spirit/optimism and am having to remind myself several times a day that God will not let us down. He has a plan that I can't see. "Faith, CAluv, faith"....
Here is a map of the prior districts:

I’ll post a link to the new district map once the redistricting commission releases it. Should be out before Dec 30th, could be made public today or Monday.
Here is an article with a better breakdown of the entire state:

Interestingly, 2006 had 8 D’s and 6 R’s in the New Jersey Congressional delegation.
If (or more likely when) Garrett wins against Roth, New Jersey will have a 6 D and 6 R delegation, and 5 of the six R Districts will be solidly Republican, and this is the big point, two of the R Districts will be Conservative Republican districts.
Steve Rothman got screwed here because Christie is governor, if Corzine had won reelection Rothman would have been first in line for a cushy no show job on the state payroll. As of now, the Pascrell machine in Paterson will not allow Roth to move into the District to challenge Pascrell Sr in the 8th District.
A lot of the affluent guilty conscience hyper-liberal pricks in Bergen county are now disenfranchised, couldn’t have happened to a more deserving group.

It would be nice to have Garrett replace Rothman; he’s an anti-American snake.
the GOP lost the state redistricting battle, for the next ten years, in the NJ State Legislature, the democrats will be in charge. The NJ State GOP messed up again by submitting a list containing liberals who made up the 11th, tie-breaking vote.
I am still in Garrett’s district he is one of the good guys a solid conservative.
I live in Garrett’s district. This is good news!
Would it be too much to ask for the report to include the freakin’ map?? So annoying. Garrett is an excellent critter (I’m in his district). I guess this is good news, except I don’t like having a bunch of Dems added to my district. I’ll have to take a look at what was added.
This sucks. They just added eastern NJ urban scum to my pristine district. Bah!
Yeah! Now Southern Warren County is being cut out of the 5th District entirely, and lumped in with the eastern suburbanites! I like Garret, and have little trust in Lance.
