With all due repsect, someone seems unfamiliar with the concept of “unbridled government greed.”
Maybe that will occur to them at the end of the two month deal that was just worked out.
These Republicans are pathetic. Always outmaneuvered.
Who would that be?
Oh, dear, raybbr. As great of an idea as that is, it’s far too good. Because you know Obama is never going to allow any kind of an income tax cut.
As to why the Republicans get out maneuvered, it’s because they aren’t principled. If you’re principled, you don’t get out maneuvered.
It is not nor was it ever a 40 dollar per paycheck across the board break, but the propagandists in the Democrap party and their willing accomplices in the media were very happy to allow people to believe that it was.
The “40 dollars” was based on a household income of $50,000 and an annual savings of “nearly $1000”.
50,000 X 0.02 = 1000.
If you get paid every twice a month you would take home $41.67 per check.
The problem is everyone is not making $50,000 and isn’t paid on the same payment schedule.
So all over Twitter and other places you had people making minimum wage, or part time workers or people making considerably less than $50K thinking they were going to “lose $40 per paycheck” if the rates went up.
I spoke to a kid I know this afternoon that has worked part time since August and has earned just over $4000. He was scared that his taxes were going to rise by $40 per week. I explained to him that had the higher withholding been in place since he started working he would have payed just $80 more over the entire 4 months, nowhere near $40 per paycheck.
Most of obama voters don’t pay any income tax and/or get “Earned Income Tax Credit”.
People that pay income tax don’t need a stupid $40 dolar tax break.
Clearly, anyone suggesting the government might wish to cut taxes.
Good point. What a sad state we are in.
Okay, I get it now. Good one.
If I am not mistaken, it does not incentivize hiring as employers still pay the same rate. It is the employee half that has the cut.
Why don’t we simply issue another round of stimulus checks just like in 2009, but this time send them out to every person of voting age and time them so they arrive next October?
