Of course, you’re right on the election moves.

But why can’t career politicians see that coming and sidestep it? Now instead of going along and seeming bipartisan, the GOP bozos look as if they lost an important battle over a truly foreseeable outcome.

Am I wrong about that?

They didn’t see all the moves coming. They didn’t realize that Zero and his media water carriers would make this into another opportunity to bash Republicans, to the point where Dems are shaking their heads over the horrible Republicans in Starbucks.

I can just hear them in the White House: “They did it! They went for a one-year extension! They’ve fallen right into the trap!” If they had just let it happen, all would have been fine—on the election chessboard, that is.
