Right, because the Republicans handled this so well. This was a total screw up . . . this battle is not solely what's right or wrong, it how it is seen by the voting public and most of those people are not spending their days reading and participating on this forum, they are catching a half-hour of news in between taking care of their kids and working their jobs.
The election isn't lost, but this did Republicans no good and you will see this in the polls over the next month.
Nothing can be changed if you lose the election standing stubbornly on your principles when you have already lost the battle you are fighting.
This was and is a PR disaster. Delude yourself if you wish, but it doesn't accrue to the benefit of Republicans. It plays right into the hands of the Democrats--rightly or wrongly.
