Gingrich Threatens GOP's Chance to Nab Independents
WSJ ^ | Dec 19, 2011 | BY GERALD F. SEIB

Why, you may ask, is the meteoric rise of Newt Gingrich giving so many in the Republican establishment a bit of holiday-season indigestion?

Look no further than party leaders' worries about the shaky Gingrich relationship with a category of Americans who may matter more than any other in the 2012 election: independent voters.

This just proves that the idiot establishment types payed no attention to their historic wins in 2010. Boehner, Cantor, McConnell and all other establishment types are as big a threat to our country as the Marxist Democrat Party!

Rush was on Greta and pointed out that worrying about the middle of the road independents is a waste of time. Energize your base and the independents will follow. But the key is energizing the base and putting forth conservative ideals.

The establishment is worried about losing influence and power hence the all out assault on Tea Party, Herman Cain, and the trashing of Trump's debate so it was canceled. If they can control these things they will not let any else do it either. It is time for the TEA Party to make a stand and be heard loud and clear this election.

The Iowa bogus polls can pound sand. The National Poll averages still have our Newt on top. And when things start to get serious, and it begins to look like ROmney and the GOP elites are winning, I think a whole new surge of voters will show up for Newt. He truly IS the Anti-Romney, Anti-Beltway Establishment GOP candidate.

Yes, that’s what Rush said. Rove has American Crossroads.
If elected office holder want to go for higher office, forget it, if they endorse Gingrich. He said that’s likely why Governor Nikki Haley endorsed Romney.

I’m not certain that was her entire reason. Romney was an early supporter of hers, but she won the election with Sarah Palin’s endorsement and the TEA Party’s support.

If these RINOs are right, why was Reagan ever elected, TWICE? Why is he the most popular recent President, by far?

Excellent points!

Independents hate Obama, too. My guess is they will glad vote for the candidate that presents the best economic plan for the nation and that isn’t going to be Obama.

Independents are like the majority of the herd in all species, they follow the winner, the strongest leader. McCain looked like a dottering old fool, not like an experienced leader and the majority of the herd went with the guy that looked like he was more of a leader in spite of knowing nothing about him. The Independents will go for Newt no matter what the pundits say because Barry has nothing left except dirty tricks and propaganda. Neither one of those are nearly as effective as they used to be. Barry is obviously NOT a leader in any sense of the word, and that being the case, the natural tendency of the majority of the herd will be to follow someone else.

The main thing Newt has to worry about is the backstabber wing of the Republican party, not where the Independents will come out. Independents are going to be smiling and making nice comments about Barry right up until they go in the voting booth and vote for anyone but Barry. Just like with Carter, what the Independents and even marginal democrat crowd are telling the pollsters doesn't mean a thing at this point and probably won't right up until a day or two before the election.

JMHO

Why on earth do they think Newt cannot attract indies? Good grief. My husband is and he will vote Newt given the chance. I am a woman and I would. I WANT the things he is willing to talk about. I want the judiciary reined in. I want the spending cut and our budget balanced. I want Obamacare GONE. Like Romney had any credibility there. I KNOW I won’t get even an effort at that with theOne reelected. I have watched too many candidates already get lambasted by the RINOs ...no more.

Newt Gringrich allied himself with Ronald Reagan to build the Reagan Coalition, the Religious Right, and the Republican majority (together the Reagan Revolution) which directly led the downfall of the Soviet Union, the Contract with America, government reforms, less government, tax cuts, a balanced budget, and the great, long-standing Reagan economy.

Under a Republican president, they [the Republican Congress] added over $3 trillion to the federal deficit, shunned conservative policy in favor of Beltway influence-peddling, and so damaged the GOP brand that we...lost the majority Gingrich had worked years to forge,..How much should I really care that Newt’s fabulous colleagues think his reemergence would be a disaster for Republicans? Lest these characters forget,...2010 was not a merit promotion; they [the Republicans] were the only alternative in town.

The lamestream and the GOP-E have given themselves away.

Their plot against Gingrich is Iowa!

Stop him in Iowa. Embarrass him in Iowa.

Hope that Iowa is his "Waterloo" which happens to be the name of a town in Iowa.

Make Gingrich limp into New Hampshire, where Romney is strong. Hope that Gingrich is dirt poor with an embarrassing showing in Iowa, so that Gingrich will have trouble raising money to compete in NH.

That way, another poor showing in NH, will cause his strong polling in South Carolina and Florida to fall.

That's the plot.

DON'T LET IT HAPPEN!

It’s been peaky leading up to the present time. First Bachmann, then Perry, then Cain, and now Gingrich. To me the reason is obvious — Mitt is way too mushy to draw any real passion, and yes, the LDS has a large weird-out factor to mainstream Christians. Gingrich has offered the most “red meat” so far, and that’s obviously what the Rats will attack. Once the Rats get cranked up, Newt is going to be portrayed as a would be banana-republican.

Sarah Palin, where are you. You are sorely missed. Of all the top GOP names being bandied about for president, she consistently made the most sense. She must have been made a threat she couldn’t refuse.

The sole purpose of the Republican Party is to serve as an ineffective alternative to the Democrat Party.
