No, the types of foods that these people buy are not staples, beans, rice flour etc. They are buying high end foods that normally a middle income was required to have enough money to buy. The EBT cards allows them(faux poor) to buy higher end foods more often increasing demand and lowering supply. The EBT doesn't supply subsistence, it supplies what the poor used to consider luxuries.
