They protect liberals ferociously and without conscience. Look how few people realize how many really idiotic gaffes Obama has made?
They emphasize any tiny missteps by conservative candidates. Both the Dallas Morning News and the Ft. Worth(less) Star Telegram carried front page stories yesterday about Perry getting some pension from the state as though it were illegal.
We keep thinking their influence is dying, but it’s not.
Not to the ordinary person who is not a political junky like some of us.
It is infuriating, and I do think their influence is lessening Very Slightly.

Take heart, altura. We don't really know how great their influence. Why has Obie slipped to 43% re-elect ? What caused the largest Dem drubbing in 70 years in the '10 mid-terms ? It's certainly not because old media turned on dems and started supporting pubbies. I'll give 'em minmal affect, and it's weakening every cycle.
I'll grant you some cracks are beginning to appear, but Chrissy Mathews' show is one of the least watched cable shows, so virtually no one saw his recent anti-Obie heresy.
The reason they do this, Altura, is because they ARE liberals.
It used to be, back in the olden days of the last century, that journalists were taught that the most important thing of there profession was 4 W's and H: Who What, Where, When and How.
Since the Hippies of the Sixties took over as professors, they aren't taught this anymore. They are taught that the journalist is an activist, and must seek out the "truth". The journalist has a responsibility to push the "truth", in that every story should promote social justice (which is a Left Wing ideal that in itself always leads to injustice for the individual).
So you see, they're part and parcel with the democrats, the greens, the anti-war crowd, the anti-Americans, the pro-minority (and by iteself, nothing wrong with minorities UNLESS you have to tear down the majority to promote them, which they do), the homosexuals, the socialists ,communists and arnachists.
In other words, Liberals.
I’m sick of these evil morons picking our candidate. But you’re right, their influence is huge. They took out Perry and Cain and thought they were home free.
But now they have to destroy Newt and then, oops, Perry seems to be makinga comeback so they have to split their resources and follow him around to to their Palin-type smears (nothing there but they’ll publish stuff anyway.)
I’m getting discouraged, is there no way to stop them?
