Paying politicians peanuts is a surefire way to increase corruption in government. For they’ll be looking for money to live on... and business has money that they want to spend to get governmental protections for themselves as well as governmental interference in their competition.
So you’d end up with politicians even more firmly in the pockets of corporations.
