Saying “Maybe it would be a good idea to stay off these threads today” is not “stay off these threads” Reading your post is like reading the NYT.

And stating this...

My apologies if I came on too strong, but it has become apparent to a number of us Freepers who don't believe we're God's special representatives on earth that sometimes these forums turn just a little too preachy and sanctimonius. Many of the overly religious people on this forum use every opportunity to tell the rest of us how great a Christian they are and who anyone who doesn't agree with them are CONDEMNED TO ETERNAL HELLFIRE!!!! They come off sounding like the zealots they are. They're the kind of persons other people edge away from at gatherings.

If some person thinks God shines a special glow on them, fine. But they should refrain from ranting at other people who just might not care what a great Christian they are. Hitchens, like all humans, fell far short of perfection. But let's leave the judgement to God and not to a bunch of self-appointed, modern-day Cotton Mathers.
