A Navy shipbuilder in Maine says it had to fumigate a warehouse and part of a warship because a shipment of parts from the West Coast contained about two-dozen venomous black widow spiders.
...
The shipyard is confident exterminators eliminated any spiders that werent stomped.

...eeee, spiders peg my creepy meter
Ha. Me and a buddy on graveyard killed a dozen one slow night at the factory we worked at. They come in for warmth in the fall.
I’d hardly consider 2 dozen spiders on a ship an “infestation”. Many of them would probably eat each other anyway.
Hilarious gif!
My first house, in rural Virginia was infested...on the OUTSIDE (thank God for that at least!).
I doubt I’ll ever lose my ‘radar’ for these black things, the stories I could tell...
how did you kill them?
Two-dozen is an ‘infestation’ of a warship and a warehouse?? That’s an August afternoon in the garage, in these parts....
Did they come with the union label?
I use mud daubers. The blue ones love black widow spiders.
Surprised it took 5 posts.
Since when are military men scared of sexually dangerous woman ;)?
Those things have been bad lately — I killed four outside of my house this year, and have seen no less than three or four each of the last three years.
I went my whole life without seeing one — I’m 45 now — until about five years ago. Now it seems like they’re everywhere.
To beat it all, that first one woke me up crawling on my shoulder. I’m lucky I wasn’t bitten. Hate ‘em.
I’ve dealt with snakes,10 inch long centipedes, lizards and sentry dogs at night so dark, I’ve walk into a tractor because I couldn’t see it..........
...but have a common house spider crawl up the wall while half asleep and I spring into the evasive maneuvers of crazed ninja on speed....eeeeeeeeyah
Here in the Southwest, most people live with them year round. You find them in your garage every time you clean.
Usually sprayed ‘em down with “break-free” rust loosener, though steel toe boots stomping them work well, too!
Right now she only qualifies for half the title of “Black Widow”.
i hate to be a party pooper but the things aren’t that dangerous unless you are very young, very old, or very sick. That said . . . I’d run indoor screaming if I saw one and my honey would stand shaking inside with me as I begged him to kill the poor creature that was just out doing her thing. I think we would transfer it to a park or something nearby. We are such suckers for animals and insects. We fear them yet we can’t kill them. Usually hire exterminators when it is essential. it is hard to believe we are real conservatives. haha.
I actually like spiders (not the poisonous kind)....they eat flies.
