To day I had a chance to thank a Marine. The company I work for here in SoCalif is collecting toys for Toys for Tots and the pickup was today.
I don’t post often but today I just had to post this..

I keep running in to soldiers at Best Buy. One was outside having a smoke yesterday and I shook his hand and said “thanks for your services”. His reply was “no, thank you”.
I was in Best Buy awhile back and saw three young Army soldiers rattling around in the store. They were so young. The were looking at some things. I could tell they were going to be deployed because they were discussing how well some MP3 players would hold up in hot weather and something about head phones. It was obvious they were trying to pool their money to by one because they were talking about how they would share things.
I walked up to the front of the store and bought three gift cards. Then I walked up to them and said “thank you for your service” and gave them each a card. I turned around and walked away. I did not even wait for a response.
They all were able to buy what they had been looking at trying to buy together.
If I see someone in uniform eating out, they will not be buying their meal. I have a buddy that is retired Navy I have lunch with. A few times I have picked up the tab for people in uniform we have seen at lunch. I do it without them knowing who paid. I always tell the waiter or waitress to tell the people in uniform that their meal was paid for by several people that just want to say thank you.
Recently we were in one of those places that is known for their waitresses wearing skimpy outfits. As we were sitting there a group in uniform came in. It looked like a birthday or going away party. My buddy looks at them all sitting down and then at me and starts laughing. He says “this is going to be interesting”. He knows my rule and also knows that I am not a debit/credit card kind of guy. I always have a few grand in my pocket. I feel naked if I don’t. I peeled off a short stack of 100’s and told our waitress to take the cash, put it on the table and tell them to have a good time. GAve her a tip and said not to identify me. She did and they were very happy. One got up and insisted whoever put up the money to come forward. I did not but what happened next was cool. Several other people walked up and added to the stack.
I do not think what I do and what others do like this is a big deal. I know it happens all the time.
Recently Donald Trump said something I have been saying for years. And that is that we take the oil from Iraq, sell it, then first give each family of those killed several millions dollars. I think that is a fantastic idea. We should do that and give more to those that come back with brain injuries or other injuries. And a big check to anyone that served. Why not? It would be pennies. To hell with Solyndra! Soldiers first!
We can never repay our military. I was never in the service myself but I thank those that put themselves in front of me to protect my freedoms. I do that every chance I get. Thanks to all those that served!

Thanked them for their service and bravery and that we were so proud of them. Recommend others who feel the same send a card as well.

You know, I never really know what to say when people thank me for my service. Over 30 years ago I enlisted, then after 10 years of service I got out for 16 years. I went back in over 5 years ago.
Thank you for remembering us that continue to serve!
