Talking to Iowa Public Television this morning, Newt Gingrich was remorseful about having blasted Mitt Romney over his time at Bain Capital - a rebuke that was not a response to a hit, and which conservative elites slammed him over for employing the same argument as Democrats:
I do regret taking a shot at Mitt. It was foolish on my part. He had taken one more shot at me that he knew wasnt true and made an assertion that he knew was absurd, but it violated all the core principles I have in terms of trying to stay positive despite temptation, Gingrich said. It also communicated something I dont believe in. I think people who run those companies have an obligation to run the companies effectively and to do the best they can and Ive said in the past, many times, that hes a good manager.
Current and former members of congress who served with Gingrich have suggested his leadership style make him unfit for the presidency.
I dont respond to my former colleagues, Gingrich said. I tell the public I was a very strong speaker. I helped drive us to a majority for the first time in 40 years. I helped develop the first reelection as a (Republican House) majority since 1948 and, remember, Im getting this stuff done with Bill Clinton (in the White House).

And he was wrong about the 23rd district, and sitting on a bench with Nancy......But that’s okay. He’s seen the light. As Bush I said about Reagan’s “voodoo economics”....”I have evolved.”
I love newt’s big mouth... it is the one thing that will keep him from the nomination.
LLS
I think Newt finally just got sick of Mitt sitting back taking pot shots. I don’t really blame him for hitting back. Hopefully he will get a chance to shut Mitt down at the debate tonight.
Only hateful, dimwit blatherers could claim Newt's comment defined him as anti-capitalist. I'm sick of what passes for commentary and "insight" on the candidates and comments they make.
To hell with Romney for taking bait.
Since I'm here, to hell with Bachmann for claiming, with no evidence as is her M.O., Newt must be buying off tea party groups to get support--I guess spreading gossip and lies doesn't matter to Iowa evangelical pastors.
If there's a positive, Newt will be even more on his toes with the gotcha bait taking by his opponents.
I wish we had some other choice.
That was a “fit”?
LMAO. If Newt had a “fit” you’d know it. Mittens would have had no hair left and been left wimpering in a corner in a stupor.
