THe thousands of Santas and Toys R Us and mall part-timers will join the ranks of the unemployed on Christmas Day. If that doesn’t show up in the retail numbers for Jan., it will prove the government’s numbers are bogus.

Most companies will wait until after Christmas to announce impending layoffs. It’s the Grinch/Scrooge meme.

The 3-4 weeks prior to Christmas have historically always been the lowest unemployment claims.

Deja vu all over again. We did this drill two weeks ago. The orignal rosy report was was revised upward the next week. This has been the persistent pattern ever since the Marxist Onada and his commie buddies usurped the WH.

Another factor is that we are at the end of the quarter for unemployment filing.

How it works...

If you file in Oct-Nov-Dec they will calculate your unemployment benefit based on your earnings from Oct ‘10-Sept ‘11.

But if wait until Jan to file, it will be a new quarter and they will calculate based on Jan-Dec. Meaning if you got a raise/new job in mid year etc you would get a larger benefit.

My wife for example was just laid off and we are waiting 3 weeks to file in Jan as opposed to filing now. Her salary was greater from Jan-Dec vs Oct-Sep.

For the vast majority of workers, either the benefits have already run out - and they have nowhere to turn - or in sheer desperation they’re taking on substandard, burger-flipping tasks.

So-called “new applications” doesn’t tell much of a tale about what’s happening nation-wide.

I eagerly await the front page headlines when this number is “unexpectedly” revised upward over 400k.

obama is going to run for re-election on peace and prosperity.

Unemployment is way down below 9% and it steadily goes lower nearly each month, todays jobless claims are the lowest since bush was president, interest rates on loans are the lowest on record, obama won the war in Iraq and brought the troops home, obama got osama bin laden, and obama got health coverage for all Americans, obama has a wonderful family, obama has over a billion dollars in his re-election campaign fund.

What are the republicans going to counter with?

” economist’ expectations for a rise to 390,000 “

Folks, do a search on this and see if anyone stated the above.

Instead, look here instead for the “390,000” number http://uk.ibtimes.com/articles/259597/20111201/instant-view-jobless-claims-rise-above-400-000.htm

Mysteriously “390,000” pops up in another context.

It is a very very very long way until next November; and the current regime led by the stain will make the most of this time.

You can bet the Alinski "bible" on it. Axlerod is already writing new war plans.

Of course, the rinos - as usual - are asleep at the switch.

Politically speaking, how does this go?

The "stimulus" has run dry, Obama's not gotten his new "stimulus" and he blames Republicans for stalling the economy for the benefit of the 1%.

How can he have it both ways? Either the Republicans can claim credit for reviving a dead Obama economy and his plans were what kept the economy from reviving in the first place or nothing done makes a hill of beans difference.

If it's a "recovery" and not an anomaly, the press will help him spin it as being a slower recovery because of the Republicans.

I agree with other comments - Republicans should not expect a certain high level of unemployment and bad economic news for fall 2012. Anything that remotely hints at good news will be magnified into the greatest expansion in all of human history.

So where did 40,000 people finds jobs since these numbers are already “seasonally adjusted” to account for Christmas hiring?

Think about this folks....3.5 years and the lowest number of new unemployment claims in that time frame is 366,000....

How many of you live in a city with that many residents. Imagine, almost 375,000 people who used to work but are now not. EVERY FRIGGIN MONTH! Multiply that times 3.5 years. It comes to over 15 MILLION people. 15 million people that Obama is reponsible for them not being able to work.

There is nothing uplifting about this, especially because this government, our certain enemy now, is likely lying about the extent by a factor of three....45 to 50 Million people not working. They are newly added to our newly permanent sector that exists solely to exist solely off the real Americans’ backs (net-tax paying citizens)

This cannot last. Math is cruel that way.

No kidding.

The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits dropped to a 3-1/2 year low last week ...

That's great, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the week with the lowest number of new unemployment claims will be the FINAL one. .... you know, the one where they measure NEW unemployment claims AFTER everyone is already unemployed.

Obviously, it’s not something we wanna celebrate over. And it is in a way somethign we should be very upset over for the blatantly obvious reason that it makes Obama look good. But I wonder if maybe it’s time to start looking at these kinds of news in a truly balanced way. Perhaps this is a sign of American capitalists and the private sector and businesses using old fashioned laissez faire ideals, and ideals taken from our actual Constitiution, to make things better and give people more work opportunities IN SPITE of what the Obama administration is doing. We all know that if things are getting better, it’s got nothing to do with Zero. That’s our given. How much can we concede that things are improving and how can we convince voters that getting Obama out is what’s needed to ensure it keeps improving and we avoid another 1930s scenario.
