Falklands oil strike to infuriate Argentina

BRITISH oil explorer ROCKHOPPER yesterday scored a hat-trick of strikes off the Falkland Islands — leaving Argentina fuming.

The firm said a new well proved its Sea Lion field 80 miles off the Falklands coast is BIGGER than expected.

And two further big oil hits were made on the way down — as well as a discovery of gas.

The strikes will infuriate Argentina's Prime Minister Cristina Kirchner — who slammed Britain last year for trying to exhaust "Argentinian natural resources".

Perhaps if Argentina stepped up its efforts to explote in its coastal waters, they would hit something? Brazil did.

In any event, these islands are more than just flocks of sheep.

If that oil strike happened here, a great many of our population, media, and politicians would be doing everything in their power to see to it that we didn’t use it.

We’re stupid like that! Probably one of the first in the history of the world.

I get the warm and fuzzies when I remember how the Brit Harriers chewed up the Argentinian jets in the Falklands war.

Argentina re-elected that commie slag Kirchner and they have a slew of economic problems. It would not surprise me at all if they took another stab at the Faulklands to distract from the high inflation or the coming nationalization of industries. It also would not surprise me if Britain couldn’t muster the political will to fight for them.

Too bad the Brits retired all of their Harriers before their replacement, the F-35C and a catapult-equipped carrier to operate them from, were ready for sea duty.

At least the Brits now have a small squadron of four Eurofighter Typhoons permanently stationed at RAF Mount Pleasant.

Plus with the advances in their tanker fleet they can fly reinforcements down fairly quickly if the situation starts getting hairy, refueling them as they go.

The Royal Navy has been gutted by the budget cuts over the last 15 years or so, but they still have a decent sized force. It pales in comparrison to the RN of the past, but is still capable of going toe to toe with the Argentinian Navy should the need arise. They'll take some heavy lumps in doing so, but they should emerge victorious.

If the Argies were to play it smart, it would promote some of their coastal cities for support functions, and thus still be in a position take advantage of the situation economically. All it takes is a little marketing. But then I expect too much from Commie Kirchner, who would not recognize a market opportunity.

rough-looking guys from the Midlands will be working in the shadows to make sure a lot of Argentine assets experience
‘down for maintainance’ problems.. guys who ‘prefer shaken not stirred’ will appear in coincidental locations shortly before senior Argentine generales go AWOL..

plus they have now a few modern anti\air destroyers. One or two of them will break the back of the Argentinian Air Force. The 3 type 45’s are at Aegis levels of air defense, but they only have 3 of them right now.

Thanks george76.

OPEC’s raising production and the price has slipped below $95. The US has been exporting into the world market for the past year or so.

Argentina’s Aztlan and Reconquista: The Falklands

Just another form of Hispano-Racism. The Falklanders do not want to be Argentinian, they want to remain what they are
