Polls showing Newt Gingrich strongly ahead of Mitt Romney in the Republican presidential race continue to pour in. The latest: A Wall Street Journal/NBC News survey finds former House Speaker Gingrich leading former Massachusetts Gov. Romney 40 percent to 23 percent among likely GOP voters. Thats the biggest lead any candidate has held in the poll this year.
The other candidates trail far behind: Texas Rep. Ron Paul with 9 percent support, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann with 8 percent support, Texas Gov. Rick Perry with 6 percent, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman with 5 percent, and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum with 3 percent.
Gingrichs lead grows even bigger if its a two-man race between him and Romney: 59 to 36 percent. In a three-man contest among Gingrich, Romney, and Paul, Gingrich scores 53 percent; Romney, 31 percent; and Paul, 13 percent.

Go Newt!
But but Perry and Romney have internals...
Mitt should pack up his family, strap the family dog on the roof, and head for home...he’s a goner.
“Gingrichs lead grows even bigger if its a two-man race between him and Romney: 59 to 36 percent.”
Wait, wait, wait.... does this mean that Faux-Romney-News has been lying to America?????
Oh please, say it ain’t so......
YEEEEEEE HAAAAAA
GO NEWT GO
I think the internals Romney is speaking are a reference to his spike today on Intrade.com. That deft market manipulation must have cost every penny of his $10 grand betting fund.
Meanwhile... Neil Cavuto is essentially partying over Paul’s rise and Newts demise.
I have really learned to hate Faux News.... they don’t give a damn about our country.
“But but Perry and Romney have internals ...”
I don’t doubt that Perry has internals, i.e., guts, but Romney, sorry, no.
... oh, yes, I do know what you meant.
Latest poll has Obama 49% Newt 39%.
Newt makes McCain look like a good pick. He has no chance of winning. Political suicide to pick Newt, as women won’t vote for him, nor will many independents.
ROTFL!
Do you insinuate that Mittens may not be the *GOP Front Runner*, LOL.
McCain held his honor to dear to beat scum like Obama.
Newtie ain't so concerned with honor...he will beat Obama like a rented monkey--I mean mule.;-Ooops
I’m still betting on Newt being the Romney killer!! Finally!! Go, Newt!!
Newt makes McCain look like a good pick. He has no chance of winning. Political suicide to pick Newt, as women wont vote for him, nor will many independents.”
Funny I keep hearing these same kind of expert predictions on Cain, Perry, And all the candidates. None of us know until the Republicans have a winner and advertise that one person who has the ability to win. The more accurate way to look at this likely is the general public who is not watching the Republicans still gives Newt with in 10% of beating the President with no money or national campaign's going on vs the Presidents full time 4 year campaign. I think that speaks very highly of potential numbers for Newt.
PS, I am still open on all of the candidates.
Right. And all those Republican/independent holdouts are not going to vote for Newt over Obama when Newt is the official Republican nonminee? And the only one standing against the Marxist Obama? Like hell they won’t.
Looking good! GO GINGRICH!
Ron Paul has a ceiling of kooks.
Graph here shows newt has dropped below his peak. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/ia/iowa_republican_presidential_primary-1588.html
Those national polls are generally heavily weighted with Democrats.
It would be interesting to learn the 2012 responses from the ‘white guilt’ voters of 2008.
When a POTUS is running for re-election - his performance is a known entity. In 2012 the most important dynamic will be self-interest. No guilt this time - just the paycheck. JMHO.
Uhm, did you see where the others are on that graph?
How can you be so enthusiastic? The guy who bashed Ryan (oh yeah...he was misunderstood)...and sat on the couch next to Nancy to urge people to contact their representatives about climate change?
Sorry...I'll vote for the guy if it's him or BHO...but I am not going to get excited about a "re-imagined" conservative.
Nobody is perfect...but he's imperfect enough to make me lose my enthusiasm.
