This is PURE crap. Read the article carefully. He acts as if these “poor” people are really conservatives just dying to be given a chance.

“The people no longer believe believe racism is the cause of their plight. They know politicians, including Black politicians, are the reason they remain poor.”

Were stupider words ever written? They all go to the polls and vote AGAINST bigger gov. and bigger welfare checks, right?

He’s right about a few things; the system DOES enslave, but these are eager, happy, willing slaves. Their needs are taken care of, they eat at McDonalds five times a day, and you pay for it, and they love it.

I would not condemn the article for that segment. It stuck out at me as well, but doesn’t invalidate the rest, IMO...

Maybe they don't have much of a choice. Politicians rig the system so that your only choice is to choose the least worst.

The majority of the column was correct. That one part was wrong. Blacks continue to vote(95%)for those that enslave them.

Though stark and depressing, this Cop lays it out pretty well from an interesting perspective.

The article can’t be both “PURE crap” and “right about a few things”. His primary point is that even well intended welfare systems create dependency and that is clearly true. Being several generations into this dependency, it is very rare that anyone breaks out of that cycle on their own.

Who was the Republican pol who kept urging ‘empowerment’ as the remedy for such neighborhoods? I don’t recall his name, he was an athlete at some point IIRC, and was always urging that home ownership and ‘empowerment’ would inevitably bring such people around. He has passed away now, late 1980s early 1990s guy. Likeable, sincere, optimistic - and wrong. I’ve forgotten his name.
