Ok, the “crazy Reformed guy” in me just needs to note this.

Newt has a policy or two that I think are not right.

He’s obviously very much part of the political fabric, so he can’t help but be an establishment politician.

That being said, I do see a man who may have changed from 15 years ago. I have little doubt that he feels differently than he used to as he looks back on his life so far - based on things I have heard him say.

And us “crazy Reformed” so often talk about the conversion spoken of in the Bible, i.e., salvation.

So I pause before I think a man unworthy of office solely because of sins committed prior to conversion. Which I can’t say the moment a man is saved, of course, but - he has publicly stated that he is returning to faith in Christ, so something good appears to be going on.

It just jumps out at me, from my Reformed view.

Many come to walk with God later in life, where they did not before that.

Divorce should be an important part of evaluating a candidate, but we really should look at all the candidates - and every aspect of each one, IMHO. We may find that we’re only able to look for the best peach in the basket.

It’s not the marriages I’m concerned about, it’s the big-government overreach into people’s lives.

I’d like a candidate that will make sure the government does less, not more. And keep us safe.
