I can't imagine that this would be legal.

Hypothetically, if I were a property owner in Wisconsin who did NOT support recall, and someone unknown to me were allowed to use MY address to forge a signature on a recall petition, I would accuse that person of STEALING the benefits of my property ownership.

How can this NOT be identity theft because of their misuse of my address that I pay property taxes on?

This story is a bit misleading. The GAB won’t automatically strike these bad signatures, but the GOP can still officially challenge them and they will almost certainly be removed after the challenge.

It just sets a baseline for automatic disqualification.
