Ya know, your tagline got me thinking. If Newt is indeed the nominee, I think his chance of beating Obama is far better than conventional wisdom. Even my wife is skeptical, but if he pulls it off, it will be very much like Nixon in ‘68 (although I maintain that all elections are very different and never bear more than a passing resemblance to any previous one). Nobody “liked” Nixon per se, but when they looked at him, realized that he might be just the rotten guy for the rotten times we live in to get things done.
Let’s just hope there isn’t a Watergate in Newt’s future if it happens!
