Gingrich, who blames excessive regulation for the 2008 financial crisis, also wants to advance Reaganomics by repealing the Dodd-Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley laws governing the financial sector and by replacing the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Labor Relations Board. He would reorient the Federal Reserve entirely toward taming inflation, axing the pursuit of full employment from its congressional mandate. He would cut spending by fundamentally restructuring safety-net programs, turning Medicaid into block grants to states and allowing Americans to opt into privatized accounts for Medicare and Social Security, eventually phasing out payroll taxes in the process.

Indeed, another 80s boom would greatly improve my overall mood and outlook for my kid’s future. Lower taxes and massive fedzilla program cuts would produce a such a boom. Newt would need a new Senate composition to succeed. I hope Newt is more than just talk. Time to right this ship is running out quickly.

I’m on board with this! Obama has sucked the wealth out of this country. We need another 80’s boom so people will have the means to retire.

As long as he’s not bringing back hair metal, I’m fine with bringing the 80’s back. That’s a deal breaker though.

And to see the FDA also returned to its original function, to ensure a safe food supply and drug safety. So many government agencies have grown far beyond their original roles of protecting citizens, and have taken on the function of trying to control citizens' lives. Agencies such as the Dept. of Education, which have no apparent function, should be eliminated altogether.

I can’t find anything wrong with this plan, no matter how hard the MSM spins it.
On a lighter note, someone should PhotoShop Newt in an 80s hair band...in the spirit of the headline.

When I saw McCain, I thought that the Republicans had hit the nadir of anti-conservatism. But then I saw Mittens and thought wow they managed to get a more liberal candidate than even McCain, surely they can't do anything worse than this. Now they have newt and once again the Republicans have managed to surprise me in that if they were looking for the antithesis of conservative they couldn't get any worse than globull warming supporting, obama care supporting, sara brady bad anti-gun Newt.
I THINK that maybe 0bama is still worse, but the difference between the Republican candidate and the Democratic one is fast becoming a distinction without a difference.

Just a couple of thoughts:
1. We are in a far worse place than we were in 1979. Our debt and government are far larger and more powerful than they were.
2. Reagan had to deal with a democrat House and Senate. They outspent him. We can't afford to go through that again. Congress must become conservative. That will be harder than defeating Obama.
3. Reagan and the democrat controlled Congress also kicked the Social Security can down the road. That is no longer an option.
3. I'll vote for Gingrich if he is the nominee but I have the sneaky feeling he is the same animal he was in the mid 1990s and thinks the Republicans can “fix” the federal government as it is currently constructed and make it work better. It's too late for the scalpel, we need the chainsaw.
4. No matter who the nominee and eventual President, I fear our fate is in the hands of the Senate. That means Republicans must have a 60 seat majority and 30 of those need to be conservatives. How many conservatives do we have now? 8? 10 at the most?

It’s like going into the sickroom, throwing open the windows for sun and air, and removing the leeches from the unfortunate patient.
Sometimes that is enough.
